How do we handle stuff like this in the not-too-distant future? I would suggest a "timeout" button, where it counts the votes of members on giving kids a timeout...say, 24 hours....or implement 'Dunce Cap' avitar and members vote on whether to issue it to a particular poster :)

How many times do I have to tell you that JohnGalt misquoted me, that is NOT what I said. If you can find anywhere on this board that I've said that, you can prove it then. Geezus christ, a lamer putting words into my mouth; no wonder you guys are so hung up around here.

I denied saying that this morning, and I deny it now. And that's the last I'm going to talk about this nonsense.

It seems after a small reprieve, we have gone back to the old way. To solve this problem, it does us very little good to go over and over who said what, and what x person meant by this or that.

Why can't we just realize the current situation/climate is not working, and work towards a solution. Endless finger pointing does nothing towards this end.

Also, can we get some comment from the mods as to their feelings on all this?

As far as I'm concerned, my gloves are now off when it comes to JohnGalt. Take that as you will.

I have a screenshot and 3 co-workers saw the shot on my screen; being only 2 blocks from the White House and a government position, you should let it go too, Timmy.

I think the first mistake made today was a tattle-tail little drama queen who takes this forum far too seriously.

I think all this worrying about self-policing and moderation really is taking more fun out of the forum than during the times of personal flamers.

If this is to continue, I'm just gonna go back to the way it was before yesterday. Moderators obviously allowed us the grace to spout and retort about such an unmoderatable topic - politics.

Some people around here are far taking advantage of the situation and trying to become police. They can't force their political opinions on others, so they cry for moderation and become quasi-police of the forum now. They are trying to one-up everyone as usual, just in a more clever way. JohnGalt, eTech, and the one who cleverly started this movement...CAD.

The gloves are off for that little harem as far as I am concerned. I hope you guys see whats really going on and make your own choice.

Yeah, let's move on from personal attacks and start with threats now...

Some people obviously aren't interested in any positive change here...

Oh I'm shaking in my feet, JohnGalt. Everyone knows how alterable digital bits are. The way you conducted yourself around here, who would believe you anyways? And I can be just as sneaky as you if I needed to be...such as, oh my, I was half asleep and made a spelling mistake,,,,there,,,i edited it, that's actually what i meant to type. F##K YOU, JG. Do whatever you'd like, I can deal with a whiner drama queen like you.

"BRING IT ON".... JG's God, sometime in early July. Which is what probably is still causing dead american troops to this day.

I think you are the only person on this forum who thinks that suggesting the the president deserves assasination (at worst, I didn't see that post edit), or the administration needs assassination (I SAW that post, so you'll have to call me a liar also) with assassination isn't serious, or was a mistake.

Put a lid on it you two (Galt and TIM). Nothing constructive will come about if the insults continue.

*edit* for who "you two" actually are.

I admit to nothing, and even if I did post a fraction of what JG said (who is a proven LIAR), it was only to smoke out the leeching lamer drama queens around here, to see how serious they were about not flaming. And sure enough the biggest one of all didn't take long to be smoked out! I absolutely have no respect for JG, as I said--my gloves are off with him. Bring him on.

For as much as Galt pretends to "care" in this thread, as well as in his numerous threads about the French, he really doesn't. In virtually every thread he's either neffing, making personal attacks, or high-fiving those who are as well as employing logical fallacies. It seems like there's a few here that really bring down the level and aren't really putting any kind of effort into "stopping the nonsense."

John Hinckley only did it to impress Jody Foster.

IMO, probably not, considering only country music fans are that petty & spiteful. On the other hand, the article suggests he's taking "heat" - so maybe the Nascar dads are mobilizing? ;)[/i]

Any 'Mods' country music fans?

Here's an idea. I'm not sure if this is possible though. What if a few frequent posters here were picked as moderators for this forum only. They would remain anonymous like the other mods. For purposes of this discussion, let's say there were four total. Since there seems to be two "camps" here generally, it could be balanced by having two more liberal leaning members, as well as two more conservative members. Any warnings and/or bannings would need to be discussed among all mods, and a majority decision made. This would avoid certain mods "taking sides" and "picking favorites".

Then, we could create a basic rule structure, and have the mods enforce them. I'm not sure if this could work, but it's an idea. I think LunarRay had a similar idea. Any thoughts?

My post says:

Thanks for reminding us how much of our taxpayer money is going toward Iraq, for what does that buy us? NOTHING..... now I'm feeling pissy again. UGH!

The George Bush WMD Regime needs to be removed by a band of China, Russia and North Korea; just as the US/UK took our the Iraq Regime. The Bush Regime's ouster in Election '04 won't come a single millisecond too soon.

And that's what is in my post. From this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=52&threadid=1124794

That is all that is relevant now. You guys need to move on.

Lets not forget, some would like to see independent verification of all 5 nominees.

Ooooh, you got me with your trumped up charge. I'm guilty of having an opinion. Holy crap!

From now on, sir; I will no longer respond to your thread craps. So keep it up, I hope you enjoy the deafening silence.

We could also set up a graduated punishment system where after so many offenses, the poster can't visit the P & A forum indefinately.

As far as verification, I don't think that would work. If everyone knew who the mods were, then those members would get constant pm's and such. The system would work better, IMO, if it was anonymous.

I fear this kinda system will prevent some good political debate and ideas from being pushed out.

Seems we're castrating the forum over a couple whiners who are mad because they can't always have the last word in their forced aggression of their ideas.
