Can employer force you to get flu vaccine?

(I work in a hospital btw) My answer is yes. Some coworkers are complaining that it's illegal for the hospital to force employees to get it (or else they will be forced to wear a mask at all times on hospital grounds).

We're working in a damn hospital! full of sick people that we are exposed to daily. I think it's imperative that such places do everything they can to prevent exposure to ourselves and patients.

Anyways, ATOT lawyers, let's hear your thoughts.

I think all the nutjobs who are refusing to get normal vaccines should be required to take a biology course on their own dime. It's honestly starting to get retarded.

I don't consider myself a nutjob, but I don't get the vaccine either. Not that I have anything particularly against it, I just don't feel the need. If I get sick, I'll take a few days off work and get over it on my own. I've been fine doing that for the past 24 years, so something inside me must be doing its job.

Your illogical approach to illnesses is baffling.

I don't think everyone needs it. However if you work in a hospital? If you're a teacher? If you're in a high risk environment where you're needed? I don't need it while working in my office. However when I was on a business trip to a country where I really didn't want to risk being sick I got both flu vaccines.

It's common for hospitals to have standards above normal population. The hospital will have certain standards and if you do not adhere to them I would guess you'll get your final check and told to have a good life.

I realize I may get burned by this at some point but I've gotten a flu vaccine only once. Really there are so many other people who get them, and I have such incredibly awesome genes, that I just have not yet gotten the flu. My guess is one day I get it and end up in bed for a week and thereafter get it religiously, but until then I like to live in my blissful world of arrogant ignorance about my incredible constitution

You might be fine with taking a few days off. But what about the people you infected when you were sick?

This reminds me of the guy who wanted to be a pilot ... but questioned why he had to take flying lessons. If I worked in a hospital I would most assuredly take the vaccine ... for my protection as well as the patients.

The one thing an employer can't do is force you to come to work for him. You're free to leave if you don't want to take the vaccine.

Being a city employee I can get the shot for next to nothing, It has been offered for several years now but I have no interest in getting it. That being said if my employer made it mandatory then I would go get the shot.

Nice. Glad to know you'll get the flu and spread it to immunocompromised patients, and kill a few.

You do realize it's not all about protecting you, but about all the other people you could expose????

So I can learn about cool things like antibodies which fight disease and generally keep me healthy without medicine and vaccines?

I took biology last semester. There are over 2000 strains of "The" flu, and a vaccine only protects against a couple of them.
Maybe YOU need to take biology and learn about the human immune system.

Can't remember the last time I got the flu or the vaccine, at least 25 years ago for both. Would hate to mess that up.

and that what makes me shake my head when people talk about the flu shot. Yes you can get the flu shot and still get the flu. but EVERYONE should get it anyway.

IF you work in the hospital then YES you should get it. WTF its not about you but the sick people in it.

we are going tomorrow to get ours! the kids are not happy about that hehe

Who gives a fuck about YOU. You work around people with compromised immune systems and they are the people that will suffer for ignorant retarded fucksticks like you refusing basic vaccinations.

Idiots like you should simply be fired.
