As usual, California steps up to lead in doing the right thing.

As usual, Republicans will fight it.

So the same argument you use when defending massie government spending during a fiscal crisis, saying that now is not the time to worry about the long term consequences of the deficit, you conveniently ignore when choosing to support what is universally acknowledged as a system that will decrease economic activity where enacted, because you 'believe' it is more important to focus on the long term consequences.

In one case, we need to spend spend spend to fix the now, and not worry about the mess we'll need to fix later... In another case we need to ignore the now (the same now in both cases, for that matter) to fix the later, no matter what.

Typical for your hypocrisy. You reach the depth of your own understanding, and proclaim it as the absolute truth, and claim that anybody who tries to make you look a little deeper is in fact the dumb one.

Patranus on the Japanese Tsunami:

'The tide is going to rise, the tide is going to go down, next week, next month.'

Actually, that is quite fitting. Nothing anybody did or would do would have had any effect on whether the tsunami happened or not. NOTHING. It was not and could not be changed by anyone.

Similar with the global climate. It changes, it does its thing. This planet was in an ice age once, and it warmed up without input from us. Why do you think that in the grand scheme of things we can really affect the global temperatures on any measurable scale when things naturally have and continue to change widely over the years? Who can honestly say that this warming period or that cooling period was due to this or that? There are way too many variables to be able to claim such things with such certainty.

I guess we get to sit back and watch Cali delve deeper into stupidity. Hopefully this time the rest of the nation watches Cali falling apart at the seams and decides to not fall down the same hole yet again.

You missed the point. More predictable than the fact we'll have an earthquake.

I really wish people from other countries (like you) would stop telling us what we "need" to do in our country 🙄

Agreed but what I really wish is that people in those other countries would put their money where their collective mouths are and enact these polices they say are "needed". Polices which their own leaders realize would damage their economic viability to be able to compete in the world market.

So large company's will have to buy carbon credits at auction to be able to operate. Sounds like this has a lot more to do with money than carbon. It's also obvious that all of the cost will be passed on to the consumer, at least for those company's that don't leave the state. I'm also sure there will be some sort of state program to help poor people pay for the increased cost of goods.

If we had had more Senators that were Democrats, things would have been very different 2009 to 2010 as the Republican abuse of the Filibuster was outvoted. I suggest 10 states.

Protip: The only parts of CA that are infested with liberals are the Bay Area and LA. Splitting the state into 10 states would give 4 Democrat senators and 16 Republican senators.

No, large companies have resources and will either continue to move to China or out of state. Small companies that cannot afford to move and cannot afford credits will go out of business.

Meh. We need to do it too. Sorry, this issue isn't a Domestic one. You don't need C&T, you don't need a Carbon Tax, nor do you need to Cap CO2 emissions, but you need to do something that lowers CO2 emissions.

Cry all you want that I'm a foreigner, but it doesn't change what needs to be done.

Regardless of the actual impact of the policy, california apparently insists on making itself more and more economically uncompetitive.

Republicans are fighting everything, they will not stop until the country is gone.

Senate rejects slimmed-down Obama jobs bill

"For the second time in two weeks, every single Republican in the United States Senate has chosen to obstruct a bill that would create jobs and get our economy going again," Obama said in a statement after the vote.

"Every American deserves an explanation as to why Republicans refuse to step up to the plate and do what's necessary to create jobs and grow the economy right now."

Looking at this situation from the Repub's point of view, it appears they have two choices:

Try to make Obama look worse than they are by making things worse for Obama, or admit they have absolutely nothing else to offer the nation except the ideology that got us into this freak'in mess in the first place.

The choice is obvious.

Hey, not a week goes by without California showing in one way or another that the state is run by complete morons. I'm perfectly OK with that, as long as when this big failure blows up in their face as it inevitably will, they don't come back to the federal government asking for a printout.... sorry, I mean bailout.

Ca trys to lower CO2. China buys another new 15 million cars, with india growing fast trying to catch up.

Whatever makes you guys sleep better at night.

ha ha, idiots in cali going at it again. In this case I thank them though, for providing the rest of us a free sneak peek of what this kind of stupidity does to the economy. That way on a national level we can avoid it (I'm sure the dimlibs will still be pushing it, but everyone else will know better). 😀 Thanks Cali!

This is true. (the city of San Diego is also quite liberal, if not San Diego County)

Of course they happen to be where all the people actually live. Everyone's idea of what California is comes from the liberal coastal regions, they don't remember that all that ends pretty quickly as you go inland and there are vast swaths of sparsely populated shitholes that everyone tries to forget about.

Don't be to be to hard on those shit holes, you're going to be paying for them. CA is bankrupt, when this foolishness goes into full swing the few business that are still here leave, the Feds are going to pick up the bill.
