And the Democrat agenda is to spend every last dollar they get and a lot more that they don't have, then provide unlimited free social services to build a voter base that's dependent on them.

Craig is dumb. He doesn't realize almost every social program he pimps in the USA was started to keep down the poor dumb brown and black people. Stupid fucking idiot "liberals" have no idea the history behind the non-sense they stand behind.

No, it's not. The Democrats could and would balance our budget, no problem.

Rather, it's an ideological craziness to take the very function of democracy, the people being represented by a government who acts in their interests, provides government services that benefit the people, and to call the basic function of democracy some sort of 'corruption'.

What's next, the federal government makes the people 'dependent' on it for security?

Could and would balance the budget on the CA state level? Or on the National level?

Lies.

You and I both know very well that neither party as a whole really cares to. It's been blatantly obvious for a long time now. Time and again both sides have had the opportunity to do the right thing, but neither wants to because they want to save all their pet projects and bullcrap.

There are the exceptions, sure, but overall, no.

Craig doesn't get it, they baited him, he ended up swallowing the hook.

Why are Republicans blocking putting this on the ballot for the voters to decide?

BULLSHIT.

Why doesn't Brown put his tax hikes on the ballot? Because he knows that any tax hike proposition will lose in California. Which is why Brown threatened to go over the heads of California voters and push his takes hikes through the Democrat dominated state legislator house in Sacramento.

No, you have an ideology you base your views on, and you make up facts that match.

Tell me your research into the CA Democrats' budget proposals?

CA state.

Federal is another matter - there it's more about size than whether to have deficits.

Democrats have a lot better record than Republicans - before the era of mega deficits started with Reagan, they had modest deficits.

During the 8 years of Clinton between Republican mega deficits, Clinton reduced the deficits every year until balanced, and then a small surplus.

Obama inherited an economic crisis needing stimulus debt, and plans to go to a balanced budget after the economy is better.

But Democrats aren't perfect there - just a lot better. Or less bad.

I'm glad I got out when school was $230 a quarter... ah good old days. What's happening in California and will happen in USA is we will look a lot like Mexico. 10% middle class and rest in poverty and destitution with little hope out.

California is hardly the only state having budget issues. That bastion of "the rest of America", Texas, is having massive issues as well. And oddly enough, it's for basically the same reason. Everyone, left or right, wants low taxes and high spending. California is only the most famous example because their budget numbers are more impressive than the $1.50 it costs to run Alabama.

California is not that much better than Alabama in many standards of living, so to me the extra money CA spends is wasted. Basically, California is like the Monster Cable of states - overpriced, overrated, and no better than other options that cost a fraction the price.

That's not what the market says. The price people are willing to pay to live in CA is MUCH higher than what they are willing to pay to live in AL.

You're kinda proving my point with the whole CA = Monster Cables thing. Or if you prefer, choosing California is like going with America Online for your ISP.

So your assertion is that many of the brightest people in the world have CHOSEN for many decades to pay several times over to live in CA over AL because they don't know better? That is like a guy driving an old Toyota Tercel looking at a guy in a new Mercedes S-Class thinking, hey, that guy is such a loser, my car gets better mileage and it's cheaper to maintain 😀

This. The Democratic agenda . . . . .it's an awful cycle. It's actually a very well thought out plan in that it makes a lot of sense in the short term . . . . but long-term there is no survival.

Letting the government raise taxes is like your cousin Lenny asking for a loan to pay for a few things. Except Lenny is a compulsive gambler, and a bad one at that. Oh, and he's not asking for a loan, you're obligated to give it to him or you'll loose your house and have your wages garnished.

We're talking about governments here, are you taking the position that the many of the brightest people have chosen to live in CA due to what the politicians in Sacromento are doing? We're not talking about the great environment in CA, or any other reason people may choose to settle in CA, the entire point of this thread is about the state government. And honestly, it's so fucked up there why are you comparing it favorably to a state which spends far less and gets arguably no worse results?
