CA Tries To Outdo NY With Gun Control Bills; Permits To Buy Ammo

California should do it, just to see what happens.

It will become such a cesspool of crime. I don't live there, so I don't really care what they do to themselves.

I don't get it either. Even hardcore leftist Canada doesn't require a reload tool. Canada also doesn't ban hollow point bullets. They only ban bullets specifically designed to penetrate body armor, such as teflon coated bullets. Hollow points are the opposite - they're designed to minimize penetration. I'm not completely shocked that California liberals don't know the difference.

For some reason, I would assume gangs don't use hollow points. It would minimize the impact of a drive-by shooting because the hollow points don't go through walls very well. Firing a ton of regular bullets at your house would be much more dangerous.
Please stop calling them by their wrong term. They are heretofore known as assault bullets.
Even "better", when Obama gets to nominate SCOTUS judges, they'll be sure to adopt his abusive attitudes towards Constitutional rights as well.
This will be his most significant legacy. I think a couple of supreme judges are 76 now. If one retires/croaks during Obama's term you can bet things will change in court.

Heck, look at Heller from 2008 it was 5:4. If not for that then gun owners would be absolutely fucked right now. At least they can appeal to that and mcdonald, in 2010. Heller and Mcdonald are the best weapons against further control and without them it would be worth just packing in bags and everybody getting used to muzzle loaders.

It doesn't matter. The cesspool of crime will still be heavily gun related, and thus the response will be to just increase gun control further.

And people wonder why gun rights advocates are unwilling to compromise with gun control advocates. This is their interpretation of compromise.

Under the new proposals, anyone in possession of a magazine with greater than 10 rounds capacity is a criminal. No grandfathering. You will need a background check and permit to buy ammo. You will need yearly certification to own a handgun. They are also considering ammunition taxes and confiscation of registered "assault weapons".

If you're a law-abiding gun owner in California, be aware, you're under attack from these shameless lawmakers.

Edit: Much worse than I thought. http://www.reddit.com/r/progun/comments/182thy/you_thought_ny_went_full_retard_ca_is_trying_to/

Possession of hollow point bullets and similar assault bullets a felony.
EDIT Must register and report ammo purchases. Only purchase max 500 rounds.
10 round limit
ALL magazines must be fixed to the gun (can not be removed without the use of a tool)
100% prohibition of all magazines greater than 10 rounds. All previous grandfathered magazines become illegal. Felony if you keep one.
Changing definition of shotgun revolving cylinder -- Basically only single shot shotguns will remain legal.
Bullet Buttons will become illegal -- All AR and AK style rifles that are currently equipped with them will be designated Assault Weapons. Felony to possess.
All gun owners now must be licensed like drivers.
All gun owners must carry gun liability insurance

One word

REVOLUTION

It's coming faster and faster everyday

I could actually see a proposition doing OK in california to uphold the RKBA. . . . suprisingly there are quite a few rational people in the state that believe in the constitution . . . just not in the major city centers like LA and SF .. .

Ive been disarmed since November after 20 years of gun ownership. It gets scary sometimes at night. Dont let this happen to you. 😱

Un-fucking-believable....just when you think NY takes the stupid prize leave it to Kalifornia to come from behind with a roundhouse kick to common sense.

On a bright note my rights are still fully intact here in Texas...and I just had orders of 500 rounds of 9mm and .45 ship so I can finally go out to the range again😀

Teflon is not armor penetrating. Its more brittle than glass.

Scary shit. The NAZI party did the same pre WW2. Registration into confiscation. Then round up of Jews who can't defend themselves. It's always registration into confiscation into we'll kill you if you don't comply into go to this camp into death for all like you.

I've never really studied how governments get so many of their countrymen to go along with genocide. What type of propaganda makes a soldier believe that killing unarmed and starving people is the right thing to do?

I don't know that a mass killing of that scale could ever happen in the US. With the new media and inherit skepticism that a lot of people have, I don't think that a tyrannical government could be so blatant and still maintain support. I think it would have to be a gradual chipping away of liberties and life versus one fell swoop. More of a slow burn.

Well, it stands to reason that you'd only buy ammo if you could use it, and if you're not permitted to own a firearm but you're buying ammo, that seems a bit suspicious.

Some of these proposed laws are obviously illegal and would never pass judicial review. They're just a way for the Democrats to propose draconian gun control laws and then offer a "compromise" later that any "sensible", "reasonable", "rational" gun owner would support usually one that provides a nice new revenue stream, more restrictions on gun rights, but no outright banning.

you forgot "common sense"

And then when they've completely castrated guns in CA, they'll start blaming every other state for their crime problems.

It's like California is trying to mimic India.
"If I say I am going to protect myself then I exempt the state from doing its job. What India are we living in? This is not some failed state,"

How retarded.

Interesting article. Sounds like India has a law protecting gun ownership but it's soundly ignored by the politicians as well.

right but I still have a hard time believing it would pass- the thing is, while the democrats do indeed control the legislature there are a lot of much more rural areas in CA that people tend to forget about; pretty much everything more than 50 miles from the coast (outside of sacramento) leans a lot more to the right. I believe Yee has been putting this sort of garbage forward for a while, this just being the most recent and most restrictive, although I could be wrong.....

The annoying thing (to me anyway as a taxpaying californian) is that at the end of this either it doesn't pass or it does and gets struck down but ends up wasting time in the first case and a lot of money pointlessly in the second.

edit: I do my best! 😉

The rural areas of the state have long ago lost their political power and voice in the state to urban dwellers. Its one of the reason why Democrats now dominate the state political scene and why this unconstitutional garbage will be passed.

One thing is for sure though if this crap passes you can expect a nice black market run by the criminal side of society in CA to develop for firearms and ammunition.

upon further reflection a majority of the districts are indeed within 50 miles of the coast......so yeah this might actually pass.

Wasted money here we come!

I'm a california grown individual . . . it's becoming too much for me. On this coming Tuesday I sign papers to get my house in Texas.... lol@CA, losing another $100,000+ per year tax source because of their stupid attempt at tyranny. No wonder the state is broke...

For every person that leaves a 100K job in CA, there are 50 other people somewhere in the country who will gladly take their place (most of them are in Boston right now 🙂 )

How are people going to protect themselves from LAPD shooting up their vehicles and mothers with such low armament? Hope courts toss this garbage.

I just laughed out loud.

Until you find out what the house/rent/taxes and living expenses cost!
