And people wonder why gun rights advocates are unwilling to compromise with gun control advocates. This is their interpretation of compromise.

Under the new proposals, anyone in possession of a magazine with greater than 10 rounds capacity is a criminal. No grandfathering. You will need a background check and permit to buy ammo. You will need yearly certification to own a handgun. They are also considering ammunition taxes and confiscation of registered "assault weapons".

If you're a law-abiding gun owner in California, be aware, you're under attack from these shameless lawmakers.

Edit: Much worse than I thought. http://www.reddit.com/r/progun/comments/182thy/you_thought_ny_went_full_retard_ca_is_trying_to/

Possession of hollow point bullets and similar assault bullets a felony.
EDIT Must register and report ammo purchases. Only purchase max 500 rounds.
10 round limit
ALL magazines must be fixed to the gun (can not be removed without the use of a tool)
100% prohibition of all magazines greater than 10 rounds. All previous grandfathered magazines become illegal. Felony if you keep one.
Changing definition of shotgun revolving cylinder -- Basically only single shot shotguns will remain legal.
Bullet Buttons will become illegal -- All AR and AK style rifles that are currently equipped with them will be designated Assault Weapons. Felony to possess.
All gun owners now must be licensed like drivers.
All gun owners must carry gun liability insurance

No surprise, liberal Democrats wiping their asses with the Constitution.......again. Why expect anything else?

To look on the bright side most of these will be overturned and thanks for turning more Democrats, independents and moderates into conservatives..

Its like they saw the trans-vaginal ultrasound bills being pushed forward by some right wing kooks and figured they should have a left-wing kook bill pushed forward in a different state in response. lol, that won't go anywhere, but if it does it will be shot down with the fury of 1000 suns.

I'd say there's a good chance these will be passed by the super majority of Democrats in The California House and Senate and signed by Jerry (Moonbeam) Brown.

Another link to SF Chronicle.

right but I still have a hard time believing it would pass- the thing is, while the democrats do indeed control the legislature there are a lot of much more rural areas in CA that people tend to forget about; pretty much everything more than 50 miles from the coast (outside of sacramento) leans a lot more to the right. I believe Yee has been putting this sort of garbage forward for a while, this just being the most recent and most restrictive, although I could be wrong.....

The annoying thing (to me anyway as a taxpaying californian) is that at the end of this either it doesn't pass or it does and gets struck down but ends up wasting time in the first case and a lot of money pointlessly in the second.

edit: I do my best! ;)

I agree completely. They shot up a vehicle with two women in it and another that isnt anywhere near the description after ramming it with a police car. Yet the state is going to lecture\oppress the common folk about how they arent responsible enough with their guns.

I'd like to think that something so over the top, a blatant shredding of constitutional rights and absurd restrictions on people's freedom would not have a chance to be passed as legislation. However, this is California we're talking about, so it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see those complete morons pass this kind of legislation without giving it a second thought.

There seem to be a lot of people more preoccupied over their magazine size than their penis size. The red tape parts are bullshit, but worst case with magazine limits are you have to reload more often. Give me a second to put my outrage face on.

Edit: Just saw that a tool must be necessary for reload. That part is bullshit, but otherwise a 10 round magazine limit is perfectly reasonable.

Next thing you know they will want 6 round limits though. It wasn't very long long ago CA passed very restrictive firearms regulation... Now they are back at it.

It's time for everyone in every state to say no more.

Of course they're going to come back later to "compromise" again after the current "compromise" is made. That's why it's counterproductive to give any ground to the gun grabber nutters. It'll be a constant whittling away of our rights.

You have no idea what you are talking about, this isn't some kook bill. It has strong support among democratic leaders. There is a very good chance these will pass.

The sale or transfer of High Capacity magazines in CA, greater than 10 rounds has been illegal since 2000. What this does is remove the grandfathering class for high capacity magazines possessed before 2000. It looks like it makes it a crime to posses what was already a legal magazine. I don't see anywhere where any compensation has been put in for people to turn in their high capacity magazines. It is kind of like New York where you are instructed to get rid of them.

This is the whole California democratic caucus pushing for it, it has support among democratic leaders, this isn't a few democrats pushing for it.

I highly doubt that will survive a federal court challenge.

Scary shit. The NAZI party did the same pre WW2. Registration into confiscation. Then round up of Jews who can't defend themselves. It's always registration into confiscation into we'll kill you if you don't comply into go to this camp into death for all like you.

I'm still fine with the an but there does need to be some adequate compensation given be it smaller magazines totaling the same overall capacity or tax credits.
