buying guns over the web? **finally bought one!!!** What about ammo????

Thanks!

I'm basically sold on Glocks now. That may change tomorrow after I go to the range but for right now, I want to focus on Glocks. They are well made, reliable and proven. Since this will be my first concealed carry gun, I want to focus on reliability first. I can always purchase a different one down the road.

I'm figuring on $450-$600 for the gun itself, $50-$100 for a holster, $100 for ammo. I didn't plan on getting a belt, but I could use a new one anyways. The holster and belts can wait since it will be 8-12 weeks (or more) before I get my CCW.

I'm way too excited that I finally get to do this.

Aim low. Reach your goals.

Glad you believe the bullshit spewed by the media.
try going to a gun show and let me know how many people will just let you buy a gun. You can legally do face to face purchases with individuals as long as you are both residents of the same state(and are in that that at the time of the transaction). 99% of the people selling guns at gun shows are dealers and make you fill out the 4473 form.
I've purchased a lot of guns in my day and I've filled out the paperwork on all of them.

Many of the guns people buy in the "projects" or from the back of a truck, are complete pieces of shit and typically are as dangerous to the shooter as they are someone who is being targeted by it.

Bullshit my ass, I've personally done it. I've never had a background check or filled out any paperwork for the guns I've bought.

Bought this last week. Beretta 92FS

Nice! If I may ask, how much?

Make sure you give it a good cleaning. Mine was swimming in grease.

$520

I found a used one at Dick's for $399. But since this is a big deal for me, I didn't mind paying the extra to make sure. I don't want to wonder if that $100 was really worth it if I ever really NEED to use it.

I'm going to give it a bath once I figure out how to use this clip loader that it came with.

So which one did you get? It's too blurry to tell.

Also, I wouldn't bother with that mag loader. You want an UpLULA.

looks like a 26?

also, Dick's sells handguns? Where do you live? They only sell rifles and shotguns here in central PA.

Those rounds look pretty good for carry purposes. At the range you might use something else, at least some ranges only let you fire brass-cased rounds.

I've never heard of any range that required brass cased rounds...can anyone explain why a range would care if you used steel/aluminum cased rounds? The projectile is the same either way...

something to do with recycling the cases/reloading them? I know you can't (or shouldn't) reload aluminum cases.

No you can't reload aluminum/steel cases...but they're easy enough to identify during the reloading process and discard, guess some ranges might be greedy/lazy and just want your free brass and not have to do any work for it. I would think even then so long as you made sure to throw them away that would be fine...I wonder if they inspect your ammo before letting you shoot?

YES! Ignore all other "loaders." Get the UpLula.

I'm not sure why, but Hornady self defense rounds don't seem as popular in their pistol variety. TAP in 5.56 is extremely popular, but handgun rounds seem to gravitate towards Winchester SXT (rangers), or federal HST. Then you have Gold Dots and golden sabers. Then you have the rest.

My input is: Buy 200-300 with the same lot number. Put AT LEAST 50 rounds through your gun with no malfunctions whatsoever before using it for self defense. Then put a magazine worth through every couple of range trips to make sure your gun still likes it.

That's what I do. Always send some of your defense rounds down range and try different magazines (yeah it's expensive, but do it). Agree on the defense ammo brands.

Yeah, this is the one time (pardon the awful pun) that you want to bite the bullet and actually make sure the hollow points will function in your pistol reliably.
