Glad you like it.

I never found a Glock that I liked the feel of. That one looks short on the grip.

it is short but there is a grip extension. Without it your pinky dangles. With it, its just fine.

Not to mention, but in Texas, no matter who you're buying from (at a gun show), you'd better have a Texas ID, or you're not buying from them. Friend of mine, (now retired) military stationed here, still had his Oklahoma drivers license, and couldn't buy a handgun at one of the shows they had here. :\
Well it is Federal law that you must both reside in and perform the transaction in the same state for handguns. You can have an out of state ID and purchase a long gun in another state (depending on the state laws limiting it)
Bullshit my ass, I've personally done it. I've never had a background check or filled out any paperwork for the guns I've bought.
If you didn't show ID to prove you were a resident of the state, you both committed a federal crime.
Unless your gun shows are held in the back of a flea market run by a bunch of illegals, you haven't been to a real gun show and bought from a dealer. You've purchased from private individuals, not dealers.

Its a gen 3 so I am going to order the internal laser site
http://www.lasermax.com/products/lms-1161.php

Congrats. Though I'm not a fan of the sub compacts myself.

As far as the laser sight, train and practice without it until you are to the point where you can hit what you aim at without having to try. Relying on a laser is a bad idea as you will become dependant on it. If it fails you are screwed. also for a laser sight, I like http://www.laserlyte.com/Laser_Gun_Sights/Rear_Sight_RL-1/RL-1.html as you can activate it with your thumb.

I don't like the lasermax because it replaces your take down lever and is not in a convenient position.

Very nice! I'd like to try a Glock sometime from what I've heard of the grip angle and whatnot; don't know how it compares to a Springfield XD-9 but that has served me pretty nicely.

come on down sometime!

I'll treat to a couple hours at Silver Bullet. They have a whole wall of guns you can rent too in case you get tired of the 26 and your XD.

And yes I'm serious

Glad you got a safe, looks good. Free shipping too.

I agree on wallyworld for the range ammo. I've had no problems with the winchester whitebox.

From what I've seen unless you buy a case of ammo over the internet shipping will negate any savings from buying local. Unless you buy the really cheap crap.

I just got a Forbus holster today. I dont know much about holsters but it was reasonable and seems to work. I need practice on the drwing though. Any one have an knowledge of forbus?

I buy my range ammo at Wally World......cheapest prices by far and you can get good Federal or Remington UMC ammo. Stay away from the Winchester White Box at all costs. It is pure garbage.

www.aimsurplus.com - is a good place if you want to buy in bulk

www.glocktalk.com - lots of good info on Glocks here

http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulletin/forum.php? - Good concealed carry site

http://www.thearmedcitizen.com/ - the reason why we carry

What is wrong with winchester white box? I've used 2-3k of it. Goes boom just the same as my remington, federal or blazer (brass or aluminum).

ammunitiontogo.com is a pretty good source of ammo as well. Of course, joining forums is probably the best since vendors will stick around there.

I used aimsurplus.com when I ordered. It was the best deal. I ordered 1000 rounds (I think), I agree with buying bulk is your best option if you're going with online.

I'll check out aimsurplus. Someone else mentioned them as well.

I'm just scared to order 1k rounds. Mostly because I'll have to explain to my roomie why I need 1k rounds in the house...

Another good online site is www.natchezss.com, they have great pricing and reasonable shipping on range ammo from federal, CCI, UMC, etc...just bought 20 boxes of CCI Blazer brass and after shipping (and no tax) it was less than $12 a box.

I'm kicking myself for not paying the extra $ and picking a safe up today. They wanted $160 and I was being cheap. But I refuse to have a gun in the house that isn't safe, so right now I'm using the cable lock that came with it.

I can't wait to shop for a holster! But I don't want to even think about it until I get my CCW. Did you get one of the thumb lever ones?

To a certain point, you get what you pay for. And fobus is pretty cheap. Do you plan on carrying iwb or owb?

Really popular ones are comp-tac mtac and crossbreed supertucks. I carried my pm9 in a desantis pocket holster and a highnoonholsters.com iwb one.

If you plan on getting more guns, why not just spend another hundred or so and get a decent sized safe that will hold rifles/shotguns? Or even one of those boxy sentries?

Examples:
http://www.amazon.com/SentrySafe-DS3...6870625&sr=8-2

Combined with:

http://www.amazon.com/Versatile-Rack...6870691&sr=1-4

Something bigger like this can often be seen for ~$300.

Very nice choice!!! I have been carrying one(well a 27, the 40 S&W version) off duty for a bit over a year now. Try it out without the pinky extensions. After practice you can do it fine. With proper technique you only pressure with your middle two fingers. The extensions really take away from the concealability of it. With them one you are just about to the size of a 19/23's.

For ammo I carry Gold Dot's but that is just since I'm used to them. They are really aimed towards penetration through objects leaving enough energy left for the intended target. For "civilian" carry I like the Federal HST's and Winchester PDX1's. For availability the PDX1's are carried at the Walmart's around here in 9mm. I would run a 100 rounds of your carry ammo through it. It's expensive but you'll ensure it's good to go with your particular gun.

For a holster I have a Comp-Tac MTAC. They are so comfortable it's not even funny. Great quality and awesome customer service. They aren't cheap but you get what you pay for. A quality holster is vital to comfortable concealed carry.

For an OWB I use a Safariland ALS holster. Either that or a Blackhawk Serpa would be my choice.

Don't forget a real gunbelt. They are designed to hold the weight of the firearm without sagging. My go to guy is thebeltman.net Again, not cheap but it will last you for years. No need to get a stiffner with his belts and that gun. I would highly suggest a 1.5" belt. For a cheaper option take a look at Aker's belts.

Good choice on the safe, that one will serve you well. They make a great night stand safe. Keeps the kiddies away but easy to access when something goes bump in the night. If you intend on using it for home defense get a tac light. You have to be able to ID your target. For cheap the Surefire TLR-3 works but I would upgrade to the TLR-1 if you can.

I can't find range ammo online for less than what I can get it for at Walmart. For carry ammo I can get it at the gun store for less than what I can online. Shipping always kills it.

baby steps :) I don't really have room for a big gun safe right now unless I put it in the TV room. Plus the one I bought will fit very nicely in the drawer right beside my bed. I'm a fan of having guns out of site until they are needed

I'll go check out Wallyworld's ammo tomorrow. I need to pick up a file cabinet type thinger anyways.

Rudeguy,

Please make sure you know the 4 rules and never break them. Be safe and make to read the manual. I don't know if glocks still have to pull the trigger to disassemble or not. Never liked that.

No, I got this one. http://www.fobusholster.com/products/BERETTA_92_96_PADDLE_HOLSTER-1651-0.html
Like I said before, I dont know a lot about holsters but the Forbus seems to be decently made as far as I can tell. Not sure how it will hold up with use though. I'll let my State Trooper friend check it out.

I do need a good belt. I keep giving myself wedgies. :D

I got 100% on the test. I really have been around guns all my life, so I am not a noob.

And yes, I had to pull the trigger to take it apart. I'm not sure if there is another way or not.

why is it garbage? I use winchester white box and remington (in a white and green) box and it works just fine for target practice.

Dick's Sports used to have really good deals on ammo if you bought a case at a time, but since the rise in ammo costs, I don't think that's true any more.

last 2 times i bought ammo, I ended up buying aluminum Blazer ammo. It was the cheapest I could find (9mm and .45).

Nope, that's the disassembly method. That's why so many police officers shoot themselves and others while cleaning their guns.

I just popped in to say, don't shoot yourself in the leg trying to clean your gun.

Alternatively, please use a webcam to record yourself every time you clean your new gun.
