Budweiser Black Crown

Does it have any taste? My problem with Bud is that it has no flavor at all. Next to a glass of tap water there's very little difference.

I think its just regular Bud but at a higher alcohol % - Much like Platinum at 6% compared to Bud Light.

I like Platinum, its crisp and refreshing and pairs well with Bourbon or Tequila shots. Its hard to drink 4-5 IPA's while out at a bar and not feel bloated and extremely full.

For long nights out the bar - Platinum & Ultras work well.

It wouldn't be a higher-proof Budweiser - that's really a different type of beer entirely.

Budweiser is a Pale Lager / Pilsner.
Bud Light and Bud Light Platinum, among most other varieties of Budweiser, are all of that same class (Pale Lager).

Black Crown is an Amber Lager. You can't just add a little more sugar to the mix and give it a new label (Bud Light Platinum), Amber Lager's are a little more different.

With that said - is this like a more generic, less flavorful version of a Yuengling Lager?
This could be a good trick for AB/Inbev, for the parts of the US where said Yuengling is not available. But since it's on tap in most places in Ohio (let alone available in stores), and often included in "domestic" sales/specials at bars, I'll get a good Lager more often than anything else.
I'll probably try this, but I have a hard time imagining I'll find it more rewarding than a Yuengling.

Budweiser is my normal beer of choice, so I'll give this a try.

You can ignore Beer Advocate. They are beer snobs.
If it's not a dark import or micro craft IPA, it is piss.
They are like RottenTomatoes movie reviews.

Considering how many options are located just at your local grocery store I don't know why you would ever buy this stuff.

I'll never get why people buy the shitty big macrobrews (Budweiser, Coors, etc.). For the same money (or less) I'm willing to bet that most folks could get a better, local beer. Around here I can get a case of Yuengling for about ~$18, whereas a case of Bud is $21.

Not everyone can get Yuengling.

Here it's pretty much Bud Light for $20ish a case, or anything decent for $30-35 a case.

Yuengling IS a macro brewer...

Good God, they even use the word "drinkable" in their advertizing! "Drinkable" is NOT a selling point unless your customers keep trying to consume it by bashing cans into their foreheads. Who the fuck writes this stuff? Better yet, who actually pays them to do it? I guess the same morons who think it's the king of beers.

It is, however, the only tasty macrobrew. 😉

I'll drink Bud/Bud Light simply for the fact that it's typically among the cheapest at bars, and most people have it in bulk at parties and sports gatherings and whatnot.

But ever since Yuengling came to Ohio - it is exceptionally rare that I even touch any other Macrobrew.

However, while I haven't tried it recently, and not sure if it was Yuengling Lager or the Light brew, but one of them is absolutely terrible in cans. Draft and bottles, I haven't found a Yuengling I didn't like (though I like the Light brew least).

"We've heard your complaints! And Here We Go! we've got a drinkable brew this time around!"

After drinking Stone IPA (6.9% ABV) rated at 77 BUI, everything else tastes like soda. But then again, the herbal tea I drink when I'm sick is probably rated at 150 BUI.

I typically only drink local beer. There are so many great beers at reasonable prices in my area. Not only do I get a fresher, better product by drinking locally, I'm helping my local economy and encouraging small business. So 99% of my beers come from Michigan, Indiana, or Illinois.

The big brand American beers are universally awful. People only drink them to get drunk. Canadian big brand lagers are stronger tasting but still crap. Ales are hit and miss. Rickards Red is a big brand ale I like. A lot of them are really fizzy though, closer to pop then beer. I prefer local craft beers if available. Not a lot a bars in my neck of the woods carry them. The yuppies only like the phoney stuff and won't try new things from unrecognised brands.

I consider myself lucky, even chain restaurants like TGIF carry local craft beer here. Sure it might be only 1 tap, but still when it's 3 floyds you can't go wrong.

This shows that these supposed beer snobs have no idea what they're talking about. Saying that macro sucks because it's a macro then suggesting another macro saying it's better.

Yuengling is technically a macrobrew, sure. When I say "macrobrew" though, I'm referring to the big three (Coors, Bud and Miller). Yuengling is big but it's still kind of "local" in the sense that it's only sold in a few states.

The big three suck because... well, because they're bad. 😛 I've drank plenty of cheap beer (and still do from time to time) and you can get beer of the same or better quality for less money if you look around at the store.

Bad beer is bad beer and good beer is good beer. While I prefer local beer for the reasons listed above, there is local beer I won't buy because it's crap. Just like there are 'macrobeers' I would buy if they were my only options because they are good beers.

Agreed. It's funny seeing all the beer snobs with their noses in the air b/c people say a mass produced beer isn't total crap. I love a great microbrew but sometimes it just doesn't hit the spot like an easier to drink, less hoppy beer.
