You're on your own notice: Increasing these defaults is a violation of the HTTP protocol, and should only be performed if absolutely necessary. Internet Explorer will load pages much, much faster, but it will be non-compliant with the HTTP1.1 specification. If you employ this tweak, you'll be making your browser nonstandard. If you don't know what this is about, or realize what you're doing ... don't try this.

lol sounds like a winner

all that means is you're doing something you're not supposed to, to make your browser faster. it doesn't really mean sites won't work afterwards.

Yes, thank you for pointing out the painfully obvious.

Then what do you mean when you say "sounds like a winner"?

Beacuse browsing with an unstandard browser doesn't sound very appealing?

What do you use then? IE isn't exactly the pinnacle of compliance to begin with. BTW, time to consider having that stick surgically removed from your butt. I just tried the tweak, and pages do load faster. Haven't encountered any problems, but if I do, you know what? I'll remove the registry keys and reboot.

Does it make a difference with dial up??

Can I just delete the 2 keys to revert to how it was before in case there are problems?

just delete em if you dont want em... probably wont help a ton on 56k, but anything is worth a shot..

its actually not that hard on the servers...

if you get 18 files at once.. sure it does the requests fast... but then you disconnect.. so the length of requests in time is less... its only gonna hurt a very weak server

I love these long quotes :D seems like we are building something. BTW, if i install this, will it be easy to remove? i wanna try :D and will it be compatible for later ie updates?

Truth be told, I work tech support for a national ISP, and IE is about the most compatible, trouble free browser available. Especially with secure websites and ASP pages. I dread the words "I'm using Netscape 7 and when I go to fill in a form the screen is all jumbled..." :p

Odd... I did it and now IE is slower, while Mozilla is MUCH faster.

Maybe it's the crack talking though...

What it does:
- Enables IE to make more than 2 concurrent connections to any one server.

Benefits:
- MUCH faster browsing
- Able to download up to 18 (as configured) files at once from one server.

~~~DOWNLOAD HERE~~~
Umm, does it make a difference if the keys are in local_machine or current_user? b/c the link page says current_user but your patch file says local_machine.
For the dialup users, I wouldn't do it, it could actually make things slower...
If you try and grab the whole page at once, you're going to download 10 things at like 0.5k/sec.. lol
What did you guys set each value to? I just doubled the default values... wondering if that should be enough?
It will if you're on a machine with multiple users. Under Current User it will only work for you.
Under local machine the change is global.
