Wow, you're a fucking moron. Nobody justified anyone's actions. The post in fact acknowledges he will likely be punished without taking a stance on whether or not that's right. But keep that imagination of yours running, Republicans count on people not grounded in reality to get any votes.

I don't think you understand what you posted.

Just heard her explanation for that on the radio yesterday while driving. She dismissed her embellishment as a result of her being very tired. Now, if you've ever been around an alcoholic or a drug addict and had to listen to some of the excuses they come up with, you'd immediately recognize you were hearing one of those excuses.

Oh and a pic has surfaced from Katrina that partially exonerates Williams.

lmao

No. I simply said "I can see how..." Nothing wrong with that. I'm not sure what makes you think I corrected anyone and I never said I was authoritative. werepossum responded appropriately, inviting me to see the video I hadn't seen. You, however, were wrongly reactionary because you thought I was arguing for the other side (couldn't be further from the truth) and so you failed to even read my post while admonishing me for not having read yours yet. Others have said they missed yours. I'm STILL tediously looking for it (posting from my phone). I wasn't responding to you and I had to get back to work when I made the first post, so boo-hoo.

Thanks, werepossum.
No problem, dude. I missed it too.

Does it spin to the right or to the left?
lol Do you even have to ask?

Where was all the BW like outrage for an entire news network that promoted birtherism?

Nice try. GB announced leaving Fox in 2011. That year Fox was going full birther.

I don't watch Fox News or any news but I know Beck was a huge birther guy. I thought his "theories" were what got him canned?

Sorry...I really don't follow networks, who does what or even who is where.

2003 newscast on the helicopter incident
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bdrtoy8P3po
Thank you. I dug around for that clip a few days ago, but couldn't find it. All I could find was an NBC media request link describing the footage in the clip, but no transcript.

So, it appears Williams was honest in the original news story. He does not claim his helicopter was attacked. He does report that the bird in front of them was attacked, and has footage showing damage. My question then remains did Williams ever lie about this incident on some later news report? If not, if this was only embellished during talk shows and social events, in my opinion, Williams should be able to keep his job.

Of course we also have the open questions about his Katrina coverage that need to be answered. We also have the full-scale right-wing smear campaign that has hurt Williams, even if he is factually vindicated. My guess is he is done, another casualty of the politics of personal destruction. If there is any karma in the world, here's hoping NBC replaces Williams with Rachel Maddow or someone else who is openly partisan and who truly earns nutter hate, unlike Williams.

Yea I was thinking give him the benefit of the doubt but a lot more seems to be coming out now. I think NBC will move on, esp now they are owned by a Cable company so they don't need any more heat right now with Net Neutrality going on.

Good luck to them, if they want the same wonderful ratings MSNBC enjoys, have at it. :D There's a reason only complete idiots and nutters watch msnbc, I'm guessing NBC would like to have a bigger audience base than just that lunatic fringe.

They're going to have to pick someone that can at least pretend to not be a partisan hack.

Once people start sniffing around, there's always more stuff that will start coming out. It's kind of like when the NCAA comes on campus to investigate the football team. If they want to, they'll always be able to find something.

He does very clearly say it was the one ahead of them here:

Hey, maybe his memory is just fuzzy because of head trauma. He was in a helicopter accident after all! :D
I don't think you understand what you posted.

Uh, I'm the one who posted it, I very much understand it. I'm sorry that you seem to be lost, but I have no experience in educating children so I don't think I can help you.

I think people are being a little too harsh on him. He was in the war zone and very well could have been shot down at any time. That alone deserves a bit of respect. Not many people would do that.

I don't necessarily think he should lose his job. But he did lie. Maybe not even intentionally. Who knows, perhaps being in a war zone he saw enough horrible things that he's suffering from PTSD himself. And if that's the case, he should take time off for treatment. But I agree it shouldn't just be ignored as if it never happened. I'll let his employer choose whatever they think it a proper response since really that's whose job it is.
