Should have been canned. Apparently NBC saw the writing on the wall about more lies being exposed and figured a little breathing room to let things simmer down is the best way. Then they bring him back 6 months later and everything continues as before.

He appears to be a habitual liar, I'm sure there's room for him in the Hillary campaign.

I really don't think so. I am not trying to predict the future but I can't ever remember a major news anchor being so thoroughly flamed by ever single media outlet. The wording in NBC's press release makes it sound like this isn't over. The suspension is immediate and the investigation continues. IMHO if NBC doesn't fire him, they lose any chance of being considered a reliable source for news.

I expect once the outrage dies down. They will fire him quietly with some kind of severance package.

He should have been fired. Habitual liar on a news channel is patent owned by Fox News.

I'm still trying to figure out how some people are linking to the political left? Seems outright lying is more of a Fox News characteristic.

Because apparently to conservatives, one person doing something makes it proof that everyone does, but everyone doing something means no one does... Don't try to make sense out of the mindset of conservatives, there's no sense to be made.

I can't help it if you're not bright enough to understand the difference between political ideology vs factual news information.

He's appears to be a habitual liar, so he would be a prime candidate for hillary's campaign. He could help augment her experiences being under sniper fire to include being under RPG fire in a helicopter. ;)

We already went over this earlier. Hillary has a history of lying about stupid stuff like Williams has shown to have done. Cheap shot but it is a fair comparison.

Yeah. One of the reasons I have a problem with her.

Won't be seeing him again. Bad year for the Williams family. Wet fart Peter Pan performance by Allison and then Brian getting shit canned for lying.

Are you kidding me? He works in a field that (supposedly) puts honesty and integrity above all else. How can he be a "decent reporter" if he can't be trusted to accurately report or remember what happened?

Maybe his age is starting to show? With the money he makes I would have retired already.

I think he just spaced it and didn't remember that he wasn't on that helicopter. It makes no sense that he would lie about that. He had nothing to gain and everything to lose by doing so. Not that I want to see him again as a news anchor or doing anything else. He never appealed to me. The only network news anchor I like at all right now is Scott Pelley on CBS.

NBC hasn't been a news org. for a long time. The Brian Williams scandal of lies is a overall symptom..BW felt he could get away with his lies and alarmist rhetoric due to the top / down "culture" at NBC. There are still plenty of liars and alarmist shrills at NBC.

If only the media put as much scrutiny into holding someone accountable for being misled into the Iraq was vs BWs story of being shot at in the Iraq war.

I think you're right.

Now, IMO, the real questions remaining are (1) how are NBC's ratings affected and (2) who ultimately replaces BW.

BW is in trouble.

Saw a video last night on TV where he was talking about "staring down the tube of an RPG as it was shot at us".

IIRC, that was one of his versions of this event given in 2013.

I feel a little bad for him. Most of these video's are just him 'bragging' on TV. He wasn't giving a news broadcast, just, ahem, embellishing to make himself appear more interesting/cool whatever.

But clearly the sharks smell blood in the water.

RPG tube, boom mike, who can tell in the fog of war?
