it should be chris johnson but since team performance counts disproportionately heavily in this individual award, its gonna go to peyton.
I'm not sure how you can argue that Chris Johnson is more MVP than Manning.

I live in TN and Johnson is amazing but Manning is everything to his team. If people could not tell how important he is to his team during the second half of the Jets game, then they don't need to vote for the NFL MVP.
DrPizza, that list was funny the first time you posted it, not so much the second time. We get it. Many of us predicted Favre's performance wrong based on the abysmal ending to his Jets stint.
it wasn't just manning that was pulled tho. and the guy that replaced him was seeing nfl action for the first time or something. anyway, i'm a huge manning fan and i'll be happy to see him get the award. he reminds me of my favorite basketball player, tim duncan.
i guess the thing with mvp is that it'll go to the qb a majority of the time cause they're the ones that control the whole offense. e.g. even with johnson, they didn't start winning till vince young got in there.
i'm reviving this thread to laugh at all the people who didn't think favre deserved to be mvp over brees.
lol @ you

Awww, upset that I reminded everyone how good your opinion is of football players? Minnesota was willing to pay a small fortune to get Favre to play with them. They knew he was still capable of playing at a very high level. Only a fool would have thought he wasn't, and I see that there were quite a few fools willing to jump on the bandwagon.
Anyway, I agree, there are a few players who mean much more to their teams than Favre does to the Vikings.
Embarassment by Favre? Chicago hung 20 unanswered points on MN in the first half. The OL for MN left Favre under constant pressure. He still rallied them back with 2 fourth quarter TD's to take it to OT where the defense gave up a big play for the game ending score. The guy still put up 320 yards, 2 TD's, no INT's and a rating over 100 in a game that was in the teens by the end. Did you even watch it? what else was he supposed to do? Step on the field as a DE and sack Cultler FTMFW?
I think the Chargers will be the AFC team in the Super Bowl, not the Colts. The Colts always collapse in the postseason. Chargers are on fire now.
As for Vikings vs. Saints, it's hard to say. Saints are more clutch. Vikings seem to be the bigger chokers and rely more on early points rather than coming from behind. Both teams are good though. It'll be fun watching them play. Hopefully the Vikings will take a lesson from yesterday's game and step it up a notch. If they don't, they'll be out. Might not even make it to the NFC Championship.
I feel bad for Aaron Rodgers and Philip Rivers. Those guys have monstrous numbers (especially Rodgers on 3rd down completion percentage!) and yet they are cast in the shadows of Manning, Favre, and Brees.
Those two guys are easily the lifeblood of their respective teams as well.
Wow. Reading comprehension FTL. Where did I ever say that meltdown was Favre's fault? Hint: I never said that. Vikes fans sure are awful defensive. I guess when your overhyped team (hey, I bought into the hype because I forgot the NFL season is 16 games long amidst all of the premature praise) is in a free fall, that is the natural reaction. 😀
Actually, the following people need to be laughed at again:

I pointed out that he adds the balance the Vikings needed - they had a great running game, and finally they have a pass threat. They were already a playoff team. While I wasn't very specific - I strongly implied that they were now a better team than the previous playoff caliber team.
Adrian "fumbles" Peterson is the MVP of the Vikes. Take him out and this team goes 7-9 or 6-10. Take Favre out and they're essentially the team from last year.
And I never said that I was a Vikings fan.
Peterson only has three 100 yard games all year to go with 7 fumbles which he lost 6 of them. His backup can run the football decently, just can't catch it to well.
If you take Steve Hutchinson off your team, you could watch it turn into the Seahawks. There is a reason why Hutchinson has the only (I do not recall another at this time) guaranteed contract in the NFL.
I do agree that Hutchinson is arguably the most underrated (by the general public) player in the NFL, however, Peterson is still nasty in his own right. Just as Shaun Alexander was in his prime.
Alexander had Hutchinson and Jones in his prime. When Hutchinson left, everyone saw what happened to Alexander.......
Taylor could do a good job also, if he had the bulk of the load at RB.
2006-07 Minnesota 15 303 1216 81.1 4.0 6 42 288 19.2 6.9 24 7.4 16 0 5 3
Chester Taylor did get the bulk in 2006, with Hutchinson. He had a decent year - but 1200/6 is nowhere close to 1400/17. That's almost triple the touchdowns.
