and you really think without the US National Guard going home to home and seizing and searching all houses for weapons that Americans that have had the right to bear arms since the creation of the country are going to say here take my weps?

not gonna happen regardless of law.

A few wackos are always going to find a way to ruin peoples lives.. no guns is not going to stop that.

Well I guess the mass murders are just collateral damage huh?

You're wrong. Not giving my opinion but after VT a hell of a lot of professors across the country started carrying, legal or not.

Sure. But that's college and not a formal plan to arm them. Is there anyone who thinks it is a good idea to legally and intentionally provide firearms to principals and teachers in elementary schools? I hope not! Sounds like a disaster in the making to me.

Surely nothing to do with massively increasing numbers of CCW holders:whiste:

Probably related to the general state of the economy in the 90's more than anything. Unless the theory propose by Freakonomics could be applied.

i do. why is it a disaster in the making?
we've got a building full of unarmed people who have no way to defend themselves. some guy comes in with a gun. what do you do?

armed people in the school could have stopped this or could have lessened the amount of people killed/injured.

Yep that's their plan. Pretty soon folks will be carrying assault rifles strapped across their shoulders. It's the only way to be safe after all.

???????????????????????

also, lots of people getting stuff mixed up here. the mother was at home, not at the school. the brother is in custody, not killed by the shooter.
Actually now they are saying the mother was at school and two other bodies have been found at her home.

Ya'll don't feel it's appropriate to take your little slap fight elsewhere?

sure, the only way is to prevent people from defending themselves. when seconds count, the police are minutes away.

You guys have to decide what you are talking about. These low-probability mass killings, or the murder rates in aggregate.

The mass killings are usually due to psychological problems (I still bet his parents were divorced, its so common that they are raised by single mothers). Overall in the big picture areas like Chicago with alot of gun restrictions does really just lead to unarmed citizens and armed criminals, and a high crime rate.

Murder rates fell because the economy sucked? Would think it would go up but...

He's suggesting that the reasons you gave;

they aren't getting fully automatic weapons because there are very out there to buy, they are extremely expensive, and you have to go through lots of paperwork to get them.

are due to gun control therefore you are saying that gun control works.

Armed police officers or the like would be possibly reasonable. I don't think principals and teachers should be carrying sidearms all day in an elementary school where they are constantly interacting with children. Call me crazy.

lol.. thats the worst thing they can do.

guns are already out in society. banning them doesn't make them disappear. it just makes everyone hide them and be more secretive.
All the gun shops should be closed all the gun shows cancelled and all the houses searched and guns sized. Law abiding citizens should have a grace period of a couple of months where they have time to turn their guns in after that mandatory prison sentences of 10 years for each gun found.
After that we should start thinking about knifes and other potential weapons. This is the straw that broke the camels back.

Governor is giving press conference now, hopefully more details incoming.

1st new tidbit: Shooter is dead as is his roommate.

Not sure what that means. Did he kill his roommate or was the roommate involved?

EDIT:
18 kids dead at scene, 2 more transferred to hospital who have died.
6 adults dead at scene + shooter dead at scene.

Exactly, more people die out there all the time, people use stuff like this to push their agenda which is sad.
