It's clear that as the back-up officers arrive to try and separate the losers, they start throwing punches. It's right there at 42 seconds.

Its also clear that the situation was far more calm before the officers came to 'separate' the people then right after.

Before that point it looks like there was some communication going on, and everyone was just standing around.

The officers instead of trying to get an idea of whats going on, go straight to using force, they were the spark that lit the kindling.

We must have watched different videos. It was the cop already on the scene who stated that they needed to separate them and talk to them, which is a standard investigative technique. It was a Gaver who threw the first punch and started the brawl.

Oh Jesus H, grow up and get a clue. I realize it moistens the panties around here to paint every police action as a Schutzstaffel exercise, but the video is clearly in the favor of the officers as these people being the aggressors and instigators.

One of the guys clearly steps forward towards one of the officers already there and points aggressively 🙂28-:32). This is after an assault on an employee has already taken place. Nobody is shoved to the ground or beaten, but its customary procedure to separate suspects for questioning, certainly in cases where a pack mentality is present.
BASIC standard investigative procedure with ANY crime is to separate potential suspects, take their stories/statements, and compare notes. You DO NOT interview them as a group, together, at first. This is bonehead common sense 101.

If the police did anything wrong, it's in severely underestimating how batshit this group of loons was, and confronting them "piecemeal" with "only" 4 officers instead of allowing all reinforcements to arrive.

But this asinine idea that if I assault people and threaten them, the police just have to pat me on the head and get me a juice box until I settle down and take my cranky pants off is just deluded nonsense.

Cannot erase from the mind, the cops even going in like that should have been able to take control in less than 30 seconds, even if it was a major cluster fuck.

Besides the why did they go in like that to begin with is the question I guess.

At least wasn't a massacre, I guess, I did see the one gun out there for a minute.

See how that kid starts throwing punches the very moment force was used? It's like there's no appropriate amount of force. As soon as any amount of force is used, people think it's "excessive" and feel wronged or justified in fighting back. As soon as the officers tried to separate them, they went into full brawl mode. These kids were raised to be idiots.
 
The video is from the car of an assisting unit arriving on scene. You can see one police car on scene to the left of the family SUV as it pulls up. The call was regards to an assault on an employee.

The moment the officers attempt to separate the alleged offenders of the assault the family immediately attack the officers with shoves and punches. Separating alleged offenders and their associates is a proper investigate tactic and a good safety measure. It failed in this instance because the family immediately escalated the scene by attacking the officers.

And before some of you go condemning the wounded officer for being shot by his own weapon you should make note it's because he was attacked by multiple people who were attempting to disarm him and the weapon discharged during the struggle for the gun.

This is how I saw it as well.

That one guy didn't hesitate to resist and announced his refusal to comply the moment the officer mentioned separating them.
 
Actually, on watching it a second time, I'd say the police were just trying to use a lot of restraint myself.

*shrug*

They could have floored the whole group pretty easily.

Got me, just a weird one.
 
The thing is they were right to break up the group but instead of just charging headlong into there they could have stood 10 feet back and tried to first ask them to break up themselves or use diplomatic negotiating to get the desired results from the dumbshits.

Look I am not suggesting this was not the fault of the Gaver dumbshits but the cops could probably have had a lot more tact in how they dealt with this situation.

I'm just not seeing that the cops ever had the opportunity. The cop on the scene stated they needed to be separated, one of the Gavers stated that wasn't going to happen, and the rest of the Gavers started brawling. Tact was not an option at that point.
