YES!! Had to wipe an old system but it actually runs!! All the settings at the lowest but who cares!! It stutters sometimes while my 6 year old CPU crunches but it's working!!! Just played my 5 practice matches... did okay against other n00bs but died easily to anyone who knew what they were doing. All the hotkeys are different! Also need what all the units are... YAY STARCRAFT!!!

Ran it using my old 5 year old Core duo laptop with onboard graphics. It runs pretty well but I had to turn to dial down the resolution to the most basic one.

Just got into the beta last weekend.

Ive played two matches vs people so far. I play zerg because thats what I used to play in the original, but im starting to wonder if its time to switch.

I dominated some guy zerg vs zerg for my first game.

Then the second game I had to play a protoss :/ Is it just me or does playing zerg vs protoss seem you like are constantly fighting an uphill battle? It seems like you have to really outplay them to win. I guess Im still really new though. Thoughts?

Go to the Blizzard account website battlenet and create an account. Then select ADD game and it will ask for the key.

Then it will show up as a game that you can download in your store inventory.

I read some of the SC forums and found some good introduction posts. I need to stick with one race and focus!!! I just tried again and went 2-1, two of the games would have went a lot smoother (and I would've won all three) if I had scouted better. The guys expansion was sneaked off to the side right beside mine! So yeah... scouting is important, at all times!

I find this game fairly boring especially as Zerg. All we do is go Roaches, Hydras, sometimes Muta's or Banelings but that's about it. Terran counter everything fairly easily, generally most will just push MMM and win. Some will just camp in their base, expo to islands, defend with lots of missile turrets and siege. Build up and annihilate. Marauders destroy Roaches, Tanks annihilate Hydras, Marines or Raven or Vikings counter Mutas (which is sad actually).

You need to start using infestors + banelings in addition to your standard hydra/roach army. If you're going with hydras+roaches v.s MMM ya you're going to be destroyed.

If a terran is out expanding you then you are doing it wrong. Zerg have complete map control with overlords + creep + tumors.

In low brackets and 2v2 yes, 1 range + 1 melee rush (range to break the blocks at the base and melee to rip gatherers apart). In 1v1, its whoever is better at microing. In plat and its toss v toss it comes down to whoever gets a colossus and drop ship first.

Thats just it though. I remember epic hour long games. Now, granted it's mostly because you're limited to 1v1 and 2v2.. I think? Don't quote me, I'm not playing, just watching, and I heard a lot of bitching about how you can't 3v3 and 4v4 but they are women gamers so I'm not putting anything past their lack of observation from a technical perspective.

I personally really enjoy 3v3 and 4v4 in SC1. Rushing was a VERY risky thing because if it failed (and it was likely to) then you're a sitting duck for a counterattack and usually destroyed if the other guys know where you are.

When you're stuck with 1v1 and 2v2's the games are short and usually very cheesed; HEY LOOK I MADE 6 REAPERS BEFORE YOU STARTED PUMPING ZEALOTS GG.

The early game is very important. If you don't pay attention, yes you can lose in 5 mins. If you know what to do, you can learn how to handle it and move to a mid or late game.

You cannot just sit there and casually build up, you have to be on full alert at all times. One mistake early and it's GG.
