I won 4/5 and got placed in gold. Woot. Awesome game. I still do not like protoss.

See, this can be very misleading. I did the same after the reset a week or so ago, and ended up getting my ass handed to me for a solid week before it downranked me into the silver league. There I'm doing very well. I had a sub 700 score in the gold league, and had to build up from there when I was moved into the silver league. I'm almost back to 1000...

When the game releases I'm going to shoot for winning 3/5 or less of my games so that I'm not ranked outta my league.

They might just adjust the number of placement games. Five is a terrible number.

My current record is 10-12 in gold. 80th in my division. low 900's... Protoss proxy on scrap station is hilarious! And I agree that 10 was a better number for placement.

i got accepted for beta this weekend. finally got to play it last night. no key but my bnet account logs right in.

i did decent for a experienced newbie. won 3 lost 3. got ranked silver on 2v2. not sure what that means.

pros, my macro was good. i consistently out mined and expanded my opponents.

cons, i kept on building the wrong stuff. lol. i didnt know what counters what.

only playing terran right now.

Man, watching starcraft replays really makes me want to play even though I've never really played starcraft before.

Haha me too. I didn't even know about SC replays until this thread. I bought the original online for $15 to tide me over. I can't figure out how to play in a league though :(

Isn't that the truth. Hopefully this was just a test to see how it works, and they realize 5 is just stupid.

Patch 8 came out last night. Some nice changes to void rays. Nerfed hydralisks, now hurry up and nerf mutalisks!! Sadly marauders lost free concussive shot, but I was kinda surprised it was a default trait to begin with.

Finally started to beat good protoss players last night. Ghosts make an amazing difference. Bye-Bye shields!!!!

For good protoss players, the boon of EMP isn't to knock out shields, but to completely drain high templars of their energy before they can ravage your bioball with psi storm. Its a dance to see who can micro better with their casters, and who spots who first.

I've been dieing to get into the Starcraft 2 BETA and I opted in awhile ago :(. I remember playing the heck out of Starcraft back in 1999...I became really good and had a blast kicking butt on Battle.net. I can't wait until SC2 is released and I can get back to kicking ass...until then I guess I will have to settle for all the casting on youtube.

Sadly..I'm enough of a fanboy that if it comes in a nice collector's box (i.e tin) I'd probably buy it.

Just got my invite! I only opted in this past weekend and I don't even think my system can run the game... Oh. It definitely can't as there is no OS X beta yet! Uuuugh, maybe I will go see if I have an old Windows box I could get up and running...

I should make a new battle.net account and re-register with some ancient hardware to see what happens. I've got an HTPC running on an Athlon 64 3200+ with 1GB of ram and a vanilla 6600. It seems they're wanting lesser systems for the beta, so that's what they'll get!
