I don;t get what all the flaming is about. It's HER money...it's what SHE wants, even though there may be better, cheaper alternatives. Let her spend HER money how SHE wants to. What business is it of anyone's HOW she spends HER money?
The OP should accept that his mom wants something that he may not agree with, and that it's her choice how to spend her money...

Anyone?
Buehler?
I guess the marketplace > internet audio gurus.
Buy her the BOSE, Load her CD's into the LIFESTYLE system, praise her wisdom at purchasing something so inherently simple to operate, profit.

same reason apple is still in business

problem is its NOT your money to care about!
Its your moms! Thus as a loving son you should do as she requests not as your misguided opinion of BOSE dictates!

Nobody on this whole thread has validated using links that this product your mom wants is Crap....
Becuase they cannot! The worst it gets is the reviews say BOSE is a very good product but expensive!
Move on and get her the BOSE!
That is if your a good son who cares about fu8lfilling his mother`s wishes..

I keep telling her for the three thousand and what ever change it costs, I can configure her a much nicer system that would sound much better. But she keeps telling me she doesn't give a damn and just wants the Bose system. It's kind of annoying....she wants me to order it tonight too. So I kind of have some pressure. I think I may have to give in. :(. Are they as bad as people say they are? I have a pair of Bose Triports and have the Bose SOundDock for my iPod, and am happy with those. Should I risk me life and convince her not to get it? Or just go with it and put an order through...? TIA.

Why do kids always have to think that they know whats best for there parents?
Your mom wants it thats is all you need to know!
order it!!

Because I know anything related to electronics much better than her...

Well when you are grown up then you can buy what you want with your money!
AS it is now....its her money and she told you how to spend it--so order it!!
Nothing hard about that; except your trying to be a snot nosed know it all kid!!

I just did an internet search for reviews.....
I found nothing but good about that system!!

If your mom asked you to go out and buy some heroin for her, would you? (Besides the illegality)

That's like if your mom wanted to buy a Toyota Camry for $100,000, and she can get a Honda Accord that's basically the same for $20k, but she was stuck with the Toyota name recognition. You would just let her buy the Camry? You're a true moron, and the least caring/loving son here.

You lose n00b

so you found one article in a website slanted against BOSE...lol

Summary:
The Bose Lifestyle 48 system is truely remarkable. With the new technology and the very cool design it will be a benchmark for all. Current prices of the Bose Lifestyle 48 systems are at $3399 at www.pinnaclesound.com and this includes a better then Bose warranty (worldwide). the lifestyle 48 system is able to download 100's of hours worth of your favorite music and store it inside the media center so that you dont need to have those cd's laying around and cluttering up the floor and entertainment unit at home. the sound is clear, and has enough bass to rock your blinds.. this system in short is 9/10 for audio reproduction and 10/10 for design and style.

Strengths:
Design and style - excellent craftmanship and chrome highlights

Weaknesses:
price - unless you shop around like at www.pinnaclesound.com where it is $3399

Similar Products Used:
B&O Sound space systems Mirage surround sound system

******************

Summary:
Bose Lifestyle 48 system outperforms all previous Bose Lifestyle and Receiver Acoustimass combos. The Bose Lifestyle 48 system has now made other high end speaker and component manufactors step up the luzuries of the entire home theater system application. You cannot find a better sounding Bose speaker - bass moduel - media center combonation on the market. The expansion, frills, design, power, sound and easy of use of this system is geared towards the customer branded public. This system is slightly expensive at all Bose stores but you can find a Bose Lifestyle 48 system with dual voltage, region free dvd player at www.eurosoundz.com for half the price thus making this unit very attractive to anyone worldwide in this market. The system was bought by myself for multi room reasons and space requirements. I have not experienced and more friendly on screen setup and display and sheer volume of recordable songs onto the system from any other system. Overall this system is a dream for somebody which like home theater and stereo sound and wants to be able to not have to change disc every hour. The total specs are available at www.bose.com and if your in the market for this type of stereo/home theater system go to the nearest showroom to hear and expereince the Bose Lifestyle 48 system.

Strengths:
-360 hours downloadable music to the systems and instant replay and music slect which allows the system to understand you playing habits and play those automatically -expandable to over 10 rooms and play in multiple places at the same time. -great sound, (bass and treble) -amazing jaw dropping design -smaller then ever cube speakers -easy to learn system

Weaknesses:
MRSP price is high, (I suggest buying from www.eurosoundz.com , they will ship the system to you in 5 days or less for half the price you would pay in the stores. Dual voltage , region free available and great customer service.

Posting user reviews from epinions is like saying a mom raving about her sonata is a credible car reviewer.
Does your brain even process bullshit, or do you just accept everything you are told as a fact?

So you are saying that a valid scientific analysis of BOSE speakers is not credible enough for you? Slanted towards BOSE? How is it slanted? He gave proof of all his findings along with graphs and pictures to back that up.

So lets see you think that after...

Hearing about the quality of construction and materials used that still isn't good enough to show the deficiencies of these speakers?

Seeing the frequency response you still claim that they are "good speakers just expensive"?

Hearing about the market tactics you can claim that they do not try to give themselves an advantage by not allowing their speakers to be compared to others?

How am I the rookie? I have built and DESIGNED my own home theater speakers, I own fairly high end audio equipment and I have experienced BOSE home theater systems. If anything I have way more experience in the field than you have.

You need to shut your mouth before you embarass yourself more. Obviously you know nothing about audio.

I have also built my own speakers many times over and over!!
The current sytem i own probbaly cost more than your freaking car!
Just becuase I happen to find nothing wrong with BOSE. I even have a pair of 901`s somewhere around here...

Thats one thing about the internet dood...you can pretend to be anything you wish--even a freakin Expert on highend audio equipment which I hardly doubt!

If anything you have a huge imagination....
You probably have no idea what quality audio even sounds like....
its very obvious by what you just posted that your the rookie...

You make a lot of assumptions about me and yet I see nothing in this thread proving that you are an expert on the subject besides your reliance on uninformed consumer reviews to back up your opinion. We all know expert audio enthusiasts rely soooo much on reviews off epinions.com...oh wait, no they don't.

So please, prove that you are somewhat educated and show me what in the article I posted is "slanted" and unfair. I would much rather see a frequency response graph rather than "THESE SPEAKERS ARE TEH BESTEST!!! BUY THEM" off epinions.com. But I guess we all have to rely on information that is on our level.

You want me to assume you are a expert Audiophile?
For a 13 yr old you sure expect alot out of adults!
Your post proved nothing more than you could find a site that albeit you call factual and truthful was very slanted in what it said about BOSE speakers!
Yey when confronted with customer reviews you downplay the reviews and make fun of them.
yet you have no clue about the people writing the reviews.

So I am suppose to take you seriously when all you have proved was that you are 13 yrs old?

I would expect more of an adult to know 13 years olds are NOT IN COLLEGE and not 1 year away from their Electrical Engineering degree.

I mean holy crap can you not put two and two together? Although I must say, "JEDIYODA" is a userID that is very similar to those that 13 year olds come up with.

You keep calling the site "slanted" but I have yet to hear you tell me WHY you believe it is unfairly slanted. Was it his analysis of the materials that was "unfair"? Was it his frequency response analysis that should not have been done? What was it?

You sure love to hear yourself talk but always avoid the subject. YOU WANTED a LINK. You said "Nobody on this whole thread has validated using links that this product your mom wants is Crap.... ". Well there you have it, you got a text link that proved they are crap. And now YOU are the one going on word of mouth that they are good speakers by reading user opinions. Once you pick an argument stick with it so you don't make yourself look even more foolish than you already have.

Sorry! You don`t grasp the subject of respecting mom`s wishes! If mom has her heart set on something it is NOT our responsibility to try to change mom`s mind!
Music is a very subjective thing!
Too mom what she wants is what she wants.
To mom`s ears she could Love BOSE!!
Get her what she wants!
I`m tired of arguing with 13 yr olds who think they know whats best for Mom!

I think I may have to give in. :(. Are they as bad as people say they are? I have a pair of Bose Triports and have the Bose SOundDock for my iPod, and am happy with those. Should I risk me life and convince her not to get it? Or just go with it and put an order through...? TIA.

My mother is the same way. She wants the BOSE system because it is so small and does not take up much space, also the BOSE name has some loyalty. Good luck tying to find some other brand that makes them as small as BOSE.

But I will let you read what you posted and try to figure out what makes you the rookie.

Thats your homework! Have a good day!

You still have failed to prove to me that your an Expert Audiophile!
You have to blind after reading that site to say it 100% truthful....
Nice try!!

If as you say BOSE is so bad why are they still in buisness?
Why are they making money?
Why are there satisfied customers?

That many satisfied customers can`t be all wrong?
But I bet you will say they are.
typical 13 yr old mentality!

Do you realize that argument is flawed? That kind of fallacy actually has a name to it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_the_majority
