This is the build that I'm currently using, but I'm still testing and tweaking a few things... mostly in the Elemental tree. Seeing what I like, what I don't like. I'd like to use Phasewalk more, but I need to get Hard to Get maxed out before I can use it more often (as well as Blackout).

http://steamcommunity.com/id/aikouka/screenshot/577796269320281403

I mostly took Elemental Resistance to help with the Lance, who in General Knoxx actually have elemental-specific units. It might be overkill if I end up being heavy into Phasewalking by then though.

Solid pure dps-oriented build.

If you like getting up close & personal with those you are killing, Radiance & Phoenix are deadly, though you'll want phasewalking boosts to make Radiance more useful.
I might suggesting stealing some points from Mind Games too, as even one or two is usually more than enough if you primarly use SMGs (due to the quick RoF).

I'd probably suggest something like this: http://www.borderlandsthegame.com/skilltree/lilith/#21505005150410535050500

Future points you'll be getting i would be putting into Hard to Get & Blackout, but obviously it depends on playstyle.

For newbies, this might be rather overwhelming, but if you are curious about how the generation system works, here are some VERY good reads.

http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=86935&highlight=parts+picker

Gear Calc allows you to play with making your own gun, etc, though sadly the creator has not been around to update it to level 69.
http://blmodding.wikidot.com/gear-calculator

The Wiki is filled with a lot of incorrect information, so i always recommend the forums for accurate info, but there is some good general info on there, like this section detailing COMs.
http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Class_Mod

Also, if anyone is up for playing on PC, i'm usually up to play some Co-op.
Steam: sardonicn7
Xfire: n7dgs
Gamespy: ense7en

that's pretty neat, but what does it do for someone? is there an official mod package that we can use to put this together, or just the hacks that I've heard about?

is it DLC content that allows us to tinker?

I thought all of the guns were randomly spawned and you wouldn't really have any control over the makeup of weapons.

well, finally finished PT1 at level 35. started PT2 and just picked up mission to get the mine key. (now at level 37--I actually turned the Key in after the first playthrough for money and experience, giving me level 36, though I've read that I should have held off on that...)i will say, 2nd playthrough is already a bit tough so I'm not too worried about being overleveled, right now..

few questions--after reading through the forum threads linked, still a bit of confusion.

--say I jump back into PT 1 and finish incomplete missions, grab some weapons or whatever, save. all the experience gained, levels earned, items collected will cary over to the PT2 game, and vice versa?

--should I still skip most of the extra quests to remain "properly leveled" throughout PT2? I plan on doing fragment and SDU missions, at least.

--I really should wait until the end (though I heard that scaling picks up once you get the final mission, you don't actually have to complete it in PT2) to start DLC? many have mentioned doing Moxx, at least starting it, after PT1. I'd really like that bank...

--I still shouldn't expect serious phat loot until DLC, and primarily Knoxx? There was something about the King Wee Wee herman boss, and why I shouldn't fight him, because of farming in PT2? I know he jumped on me on the first playthough, had no idea he would appear like that. I wasted him. I assume he doesn't respawn...

I'm pretty certain that everything carries over.

I'd really like that bank...

You can use the bank without actually doing DLC2. Just go to the Underdome and the bank will be right there. I've never done DLC2 and I use the bank all the time.

i did mordacai sniper build. through most the game i used various versions of the maliwan volcano, but towards the end i got access to an S&S Viscious Orion, lvl 57 req, and a sniper mod that regens sniper ammo.

couldn't be happier. shoots ridiculously fast, sniper rifle with ~30 round magazine size, and regens ammo. and the mod on the viscious orion is x4 shock, and shots split and bounce. it's ridiculous.

i still keep the best volcano i've found around just so i can remember what it's like to conserve ammo. :p

overleveled my ass! I'm getting owned by skags, trying to do the side missions (Moe and Marley kick my ass) still on my way to Sledges hideout to get the key

I'm level 40 now, and according to the play-through FAQ, I should be around 42 when I hit New Haven? wtf.

granted, I'm still mostly using my guns from playthrough one: a lightening and incendiary SMG with ~35 damage, but the Malevolent Tediore with 50 damage, 12 fire rate, and 0.2 second reload as my primary (scoped, with 95 accuracy. love that gun).

the bonecrusher that dropped for me on this playthrough (whatever that gun is called--the boss outside of Fyrestone that has the module for Scooter's car bank) is pretty good: 70x2 damage, or thereabouts. eating up my ammo, though (only 8 regen on my COM).

I'm not finding good SMGs, at all, anywhere around here. After looking through the farming threads, it seems mostly chest running. Are there specific areas in the game where certain types of weapons are known to drop at higher rates? Like if I want a good Maliwan SMG with high elemental tech, or an Anarchy? Or is that only useful in the DLC?

one weird thing--the Mercenary COM that I use is still much better than anything else I have found, and it was around level 22 on my first PT: 42% SMG damage; 3/2/2, +8 Regen (Quicksilver, Girl power, High Velocity). It is rated level 16, and worth $16k according to my menu.

Everything else that I'm seeing now, is like level 25-30, maybe 35-40% (2/2) and 50% elemental damage. They are all in the $200-300k range.

From what I've seen, the stats on mine are rather high end compared to what people have been showing on the boards (the regen is low, though; but it's the only SMG regen that I've seen so far). Kind of a weird drop, no? I think I bought it at a vending machine, actually.

I wanna try Mordecai. Just not sure if I'll be burned out before getting my Siren leveled up and well looted.

It's definitely a fun game, and plays on my worst addictions: mad looting, so, who knows.

I haven't gotten into multiplayer yet, though. I don't know anyone else that plays. :( I've only heard that it is so much better multiplayer.

You can cheese the hell out of Moe and Marley though. It's possible to separate them and take out one (Lightning one is easier) then take out the other one. I recommend jumping up on something to get out of melee range.

Do Claptrap first, as it shows up as the first thing after you beat the main game, zombie, then knoxx, then moxxi. When you beat the dlc shit, you get an extra skill point (even moxxi) and I believe you can repeat them after you finish for more points.
that makes no sense because Claptrap's enemies will only be relevant if you have played Zombie and Knoxx. Claptrap was clearly set up to be the last "story" DLC to play.

so, no SDUs drop in PT2? I did one of the broken claptrap missions, and while it had the SDU as a reward, I got a crappy bomb. :(

I suppose it's because it was already done PT1, and they don't repeat? If I skipped one of them in PT1, will it, perhaps, show up in PT2 as an actual SDU, or do I have to go back to my first PT to get it? I feel like I skipped one of them.

Other than that, it looks like I get SDUs dong two of the DLC in PT1, always, and that sometimes Knoxx will drop one in PT2?

so confusing, all of this.

I found that a good place to farm in early game, especially if you're a siren is sledge's safehouse:

-Play though it once normally, so you open up all the shortcuts, then
-Phasewalk past the first group of enemies, taking the door on the right to skip the the part where you rescue claptrap
-open the 2 red chests there
-Phasewalk past the room with the hole in the middle, turn left to go down the stairs
-open the red chest behind the bar
-Head out and turn left to head up the stairs
-At the top of the stairs, jump onto the roof and open the last red chest
-exit game and reload

oh, and put on a catalyst COM for this, the reduced CD on phasewalk is great for farming here.

Check this for bag reward information:

http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/SDU

cool. I assume that is one of the wiki pages that is trustable? I've been reading all over that it is very inaccurate today.

and I suppose that if I missed some in PT1, I can load the first PT, go back to those spots, pick them, and it will all be saved across the whole character?
this is one fucked-up system, haha.

yeah, I was just thinking of finding a path through there to farm those chests. I've already walked back to Fyrestone, though. dang. the NU opens up once I beat Sledge, correct?

I think it opens up once you leave fyrestone and head towards new haven. i THINK you can load PT1, port to the safehouse and exit the game, and it will spawn you there if you reload on PT2. Not sure about this though

Ugh, I remember why I hate playing the DLCs so much for Borderlands. I clear the Crimson Highway, and the Claptrap is all "There are new missions at the bounty board! You know, the one you just spent 45 minutes clearing from! Con-gratulations!"

oo, neat. I'll try a few runs with that map.

well, picked up a 4x69 Anarchy in the chest found in teh basement of that house (the dead guy from one of the side missions) just outside Sledge's mine.

that, and a nicely scoped ~90dmg Malevolent SMG has solved my dieing issue in PT2. ...now I'm too powerful, again. haha.

level 42 & 5/6 on my way to the archeologist chick outside of New Haven. (first time)

Another thing, trying to quit without saving (to get better boss drops), do I understand this correctly?

1) suicide with grenade
2) press ESC, and quit to menu during the NU transport sequence

If you're level 42 already and close to new haven, dahl headlands or underpass might be a better area to farm, IIRC safehouse drops lvl 30ish loot.

an easier way to quit without saving (imo) is to mark your save files as read-only (they're in user\my documents\my games\borderlands\savedata) then when you get the drop that you want, alt-tab, uncheck read-only, and quit normally.

It's completely random :\. I didn't get my first one until I was doing Zombie Island (DLC1) on my first playthrough.

yeah, I haven't seen another mod with regen--maybe one for hunter or soldier, I think. I tend to scan all the stats for all of them, just to become familiar.

Not another one for Siren though. Almost all of the lvl 30-40+ Merc COMs that I'm seeing are. maybe, 33% (2). that's it. They are valued at $300-700k

my piddly lvl 16 COM, at 43% (3/2/2) +8 is valued at $16k :D I'm fairly certain that it was an IotD that I purchased around lvl 25 or 27. haha.

If the market were like Guild Wars, (I have no idea), the low lvl req on my COM would make it worth millions, hehe.

I'm now pushing myself to try out Plaguemonger, or whatever that's called. I only have an x1 corrosive SMG, though. I could have picked up an x4 one, but it was a bit too rich for my blood.

IIRC, the merc COM can spawn with either no effect, +ele proc rate, or ammo regen. ammo regen is by far the rarest, so its probably not surprising that you're not seeing those much.

yep, seeing mostly nothing or +ele proc. far more zero effect than ele proc.

so, is it true that much better items drop during co-op?
