I like the game, but the only thing really different between the characters is their specials :p

Respectfully disagree, at least for Zer0. Without using a special, I can headshot for many times more than any other character, and that's not even counting Critical Ascensi0n, which results in INSANE critical damage that the other characters can't touch.

I haven't played much with any other character, but based on their skill trees, I could imagine Axton and Salvadore being similar. But Maya can be much more of a healer than either of those, again without a special.

I could make critical headshots with Salvadore just as easy as I can with Axton. Not tried the other characters though, but from playing co-cop it seems like the ninja and Maya can also take critical headshots in the same way. So I don't know if there is a real big difference appart from their special abilities and the way you skill them.

I can imagine that when playing singleplayer Axton's turret is really important, as I've stated earlier. Salvadore's special ability will be pretty much useless in singleplayer. It's useless anyway.

For singleplayer my guess is that Axton and Gaige will be the best because of the turret for Axton and Deathtrap robot for Gaige distracting the enemies.

One thing that I find odd about the game is how the dialog doesn't seem to change for different characters. It got very weird when
Angel said that Lilith couldn't come to help get to Angel... because she's a Siren. Umm... I'm playing a Siren!

Yeah that whole part was a little odd to me as well especially when
everyone was talking about how the way to access the vault key was destroyed when there were 2 sirens standing next to each other (Maya & Lilith).

I just wondered what happens when the mainquest is completed? Can you continue to play?

I was going to ask this same question today.

I am at the part where you are told to go back to Eridium Blight and 'Finish this'. Am I correct in assuming this is the last quest?

I want to get as close to 100% completion on my first playthrough as I can. Can I beat the final quest but still continue to do my sidequests afterwards?

IIRC once you finish the final quest you're still free to roam about in "playthrough 1", though I do not know if beating the game causes any changes to previous areas that might disable or alter side quests.

It appears that I have access to the new character (Gaige). I thought it was going to be $9.99 for people that didn't pre-order or went premium pack or whatever. It's only $4.99 and Steam says I already own it.

Can't wait to try her out, though level 1... ehhhh... :p

What! Lol! Lucky you ;) I pre-purchased the game and also was under the impression that those who did not pre-purchase or got the premium pack had to pay for Mechromancer (Gaige) update....

It's not about ability to make the headshot, it's the damage it causes. Zer0 does exponentially more headshot/crit damage if properly specced, even without his special. If that's not your play style though, it's moot.

You can continue to quest after beating the game. In fact, you don't even get the Terramorphous quest until you "beat the game." Your next step would be to start a new game in True Vault Hunter Mode, which lets you use any character that's already beaten the game (with all skills and gear), and which scales the beginning of the game to your current level and continues from there. Once you beat THAT version, you can start another new game where everything will be level 50 all the time.

Well I was finally able to log into the game and it said I'm a member of the premium club. This explains why I got Gaige for free but I didn't pre-order. Ah well, time to enjoy it I guess. :D

That is cool. Thanks for the clarification

how do you go back to playthrough 1? I wanted to finish some side quests. Also, I want to make a run at the bee shield.

You just "Continue" in the main menu without starting a new game. This isn't a spoiler, but just in case:
The game never really "ends." You finish the last boss, get to watch the credits, and then you're right back where you killed the last boss, and you can do whatever you want after that. Finish quests, sit in Sanctuary tipping Moxxi, whatever you want.

Thanks. Just out of curiosity, is it the same for Borderlands 1?

I'd say the skill trees are a pretty huge difference between characters. You're downplaying them to nothing, as you don't seem to understand the skills. Zer0 has a skill that increase the damage his criticals do every successive critical. That's a crazy powerful sniper skill.

Angel tries to keep Lilith away, but not Maya, because Maya doesn't have any reaction with Eridium. It's stated in one of her audiologs in the Wildlife Exploitation Sanctuary, and reinforced as she picks up Eridium in the story several times with nothing happening. Makes her completely useless for charging the key.
