Everyone had the chance to pre-order. Everybody knew this game was coming and it was made very clear on Steam what bonuses you'd get if pre-purchased. So no excuse coming now and be chocked the Mechromancer has a price

Yeah, Gearbox was very upfront about this. That being said, the Mechomancher is #4 on the top sellers on Steam wow, a lot of people look like they held off preordering BL2 heh.

It was still pretty sad to see people complain about it on forums. "You're still giving Gearbox a loan to get the 'free' DLC!" Buddy, you could literally pre-order it an hour before the game was released and get the Mechromancer DLC!

Angel tries to keep Lilith away, but not Maya, because Maya doesn't have any reaction with Eridium. It's stated in one of her audiologs in the Wildlife Exploitation Sanctuary, and reinforced as she picks up Eridium in the story several times with nothing happening. Makes her completely useless for charging the key.

Ah thanks for the explanation. Harder to hear the audio logs sometimes when you have other people goofing off in game over mics. :D

I'd say the skill trees are a pretty huge difference between characters. You're downplaying them to nothing, as you don't seem to understand the skills. Zer0 has a skill that increase the damage his criticals do every successive critical. That's a crazy powerful sniper skill.

/Agree. This is what I was talking about in previous posts re: the skill Critical Ascensi0n. If you have good aim and can crit on the move, this is almost a game breaker, especially on bosses that have an exposed crit area for most of the fight. By the time I killed the Warrior the first time I had about 30 stacks (between his mouth and his adds) and was critting for more than 250,000 per shot (keep in mind, this is NOTHING compared to lvl 50 damage in TVHM).

I preordered, but I didn't pay attention to what the bonuses were. When I preorder its because I want to play on day one with no waiting, not for bs preorder bonuses that should be in the shipped game. I don't think some of the people I play coop with preordered. It seems the class is actually geared towards their noobish play style, but getting them to buy the game now and not when it is $10 on a steam sale was like pulling teeth. No way they buy this dlc.

Am talking about people whining the Mechromancer costs money when this was well known before the game was released. And that everybody that pre-purchased would get this, two golden keys, a couple of starting weapons and a 5% better loot chance relic for free. And now people who did not pre-purchase the game are whining it costs money.

When you clicked the game on Steam's pages it was very clear what you would get or not get for free if one did or did not pre-purchase. You didn't have to read much. It caught my attention the moment I was on Steam Borderlands 2 page.

Honestly, if people don't even pay that much attention before buying, I really don't feel sorry for them.

Well, my friends and myself are older. Don't necessarily have the inclination to research preorder bonuses per retailer and what not. Just want to play the game. To be honest, all the Borderlands 2 info I got was from this thread, and its because I visit the forum anyways. All these nickel and dime tactics are retarded. Not sure why your $60 is worth less the day the game is released. Heck, I paid under $40 and got the bonuses, and my friends paid $60 a couple days after release and didn't get squat.

Anyways, it'll be interesting to see what their reactions are. Most likely, from now on they'll just stick to Steam sales when all the content is included. When I saw the whole season pass thing I was thinking I should have waited for $10 GOTY version like I did with the first Borderlands. Its not even really the money, its the feeling that they are trying to screw you.

Gearbox started working on the Mechromancer class after the game was sent to be finalized. This effectively means that the development phase of the game ( not talking bug fixes here, that's the support phase ) is complete. Given that, the development budget is not put toward developing these extras.

Gearbox simply chose to give people that pre-ordered the class for free (and 2K allowed it). I'm guessing that it's more of a "thank you" to fans who were willing to show their support for the game before its release. Also, it sounds more like you took advantage of deals that were going around the net (probably Green Man Gaming). This is simply because retailers are in constant competition with each other to get business. To give you an idea, I paid $15 for the 3D Blu-Ray of The Avengers. I have never paid so little for a new-release 3D movie, but I did because of some crazy competition between vendors.

hahaha I don't buy that for one second.

And they give the finger as a thank you to those who supported it after release? You must have got the Amazon pre order $5 credit on the Avengers. But what if you only got the 3D (or more realistically, the bonus features) if you preordered. On release, they took away 3D (or bonus features) and charged same price. Kinda lame eh? Its not like this is a physical good which would cost more to include, like a bonus CD or poster or something.

It looks like the bulk of Borderlands 2 sales came from preorders. It actually makes sense, as there is less incentive to buy the game now.

I haven't played it but I have a hunch it plays the same as every other character except every 60 seconds you summon a robot that is an Axton turret / Mordecai bloodwing hybrid.

I like the game, but the only thing really different between the characters is their specials :p

I suppose on a general level thats true. But Gaige has a rather unique skill tree called Anarchy. Every time you run your gun out of ammo and reload it builds up a anarchy stack. Your damage increases but accuracy decreases w/each stack.
Reloading while partly full kills your stack. Later on you can get skills which let you trade in some of your accumalted stack for healing and other things. In the end you get this weird mini game where you are trying to manage your anarchy stack. Plus its damn hard remembering not to reload all the time.

The thing is... Gearbox isn't taking anything away from those that just buy the game. You do get the base game of Borderlands 2. They are simply giving something else to people that pre-ordered it. Now, if you really want to get your knickers in a bind, you can complain that it's currently not possible to get the Creature Slaughter Dome. There's been rumblings about it possibly coming out later on as a separate paid DLC, but as of right now, if you didn't pre-order from Gamestop, you cannot get it and will not be able to get it.

With the Mechromancer, it was stated early on that it would be available to those that did not pre-order for $10 I do think that $10 is a little pricey for it compared to the mini-campaign DLC that will be coming out later, which will also be $10. Gearbox stated that they will be comparable to The Secret Armory of General Knoxx (Borderlands 1 DLC 3), which was pretty big overall.

You must have got the Amazon pre order $5 credit on the Avengers.

Yup! I was happy as a clam when I saw that they dropped the base price from 29.99 to 19.99 as my $5 off was a coupon and doesn't count toward the pre-order price guarantee! ^_^

I'm tempted to try out that tree, but the idea of sacrificing accuracy just makes me cringe. I'm very acclimated to sitting back and picking off people from a distance, which typically requires accurate weapons of varying types. I'll need to be up in the fray to use weapons with diminished accuracy.

Preorder on this one just didn't make sense. FS/FT was flooded w/ offers from new video card purchases for BL2 code for $25-30

Unless I'm missing something, all of those people (including myself) got TOTALLY SCREWED! I bought one of those codes, and steam is saying I don't own the Mechromancer DLC. So that means everybody who got the game free with their card got screwed too. I'm sure the people who got the game truly free with a card don't feel as bad but I feel slapped across the face.

Was that a code that came with your graphicscard? I can imagine if that is the case, even if you entered the code before the game was released, it may be the Borderlands 2 editions coming in graphicscard deals did not include the extra stuff.

Anyway, getting the base game with your graphicscard is a good deal in itself.

$25 +$10 is still less than what I paid to preorder.

Just wait for a Steam sale on the DLC, the big xmas sale is only a couple of months away.

It was one of those codes, yes. I figured since you could pre-load it in steam, it would be smart enough to know you got the game before release and give you the DLC token. Then any activations of those codes after the release wouldn't get it because they didn't pre-load.

Video card freebies are often the bare game without any bonuses or DLC, unless (sometimes) if it's a game that was released a year or two ago.

Actually if you edit a file you can get the gamestop preorder arena thing for free :p
I did it and played through it, the rocket launcher it gives you is insane on your first play through.
