I mistakenly went to Tiny Tina's docks when I thought I was going to the crater (Stupid waypoint is all shiny and distracting ). So I unlocked that, hopefully not too early. It starts off hilarious enough, kinda want to go right into it now.

Torgue reminds me of 1 part Brawndo guy, and another part Michael Bay.

Definitely save Tiny Tina's for last. Well, definitely do Torgue + main campaign first. I'm not sure if there are any pirate references, but you've already done that one anyway.

From most people I've heard from, Hammerlock is the least engrossing DLC. I've only just barely started it, mainly to get The Rough Rider shield.

Man, the PhysX in this game is buggy; on high at least. :\

In the Bloodshot stronghold at the spinning vortex, the game becomes very laggy with my Commando as soon as he lays down his turret. The frame rate drops down big time for a split second, then goes back up..

This ONLY happens when Axton lays down his turret. If I don't use the turret, then the gameplay is smooth..

I noticed this at the Southern Shelf as well when I had to kill Midgemong. Whenever I used my turret, the game just started lagging. At first I thought I was my GTX 460 not having enough horsepower or something, but overclocking it didn't help at all.

And now that I have a faster PhysX card, a GTX 650 Ti SSC, the problem hasn't improved..

So I'm sure the problem isn't on my end. It's definitely a game issue. I've heard that many people have had problems with PhysX in combination with SLI in this game..

I've experienced dips with PhysX enabled, but I don't have a separate PhysX card. I attributed it to PhysX putting too much of a strain on one card, which causes some sync issues. I would consider a separate card, but (1) I might have to consider water cooling that too since I like not having any video card fan noise (2) I don't have an enthusiast series CPU/FSB or a PLX-equipped motherboard. SLI doesn't support 8x/4x/4x regardless of whether it's PCI-E 3.0, which provides the same speed as PCI-E 2.0 8x (SLI's requirement).

OK I found a possible solution, though not a full one.

Putting the GTX 650 Ti to dedicated in the control panel helped immensely to smooth out the frame rate. It was on auto-select before, which may have caused some sync issues..

Still, the fault really lies with the game though, as I usually leave the PhysX setting on auto select and I've never encountered this issue in any other PhysX game.

I would have assumed that it was setup like that already if you told me that you had a card installed specifically for PhysX. :p

It's probably the difference in PhysX effects.

Auto select is the default option, and it chooses my GTX 650 Ti automatically for PhysX. Usually it works well, but I suspect Borderlands 2 has thread synching issues with PhysX, so dedicating the card helps to alleviate it.

And despite the auto select and dedicated option both choosing the GTX 650 Ti for PhysX, there is definitely a difference when it comes to functionality. For example, with dedicated, I loose the option to overclock the PhysX card.

With auto select, I can overclock it however. So dedicated is really the best option because the driver has greater power to prevent thread clashing, as the GTX 650 Ti is strictly limited to PhysX processing only.

It's probably the difference in PhysX effects.

I doubt it. I've never seen BL2 push my PhysX card over 40%; so far at least. With Batman Arkham City on the other hand, utilization can get up to the 60s.. As flashy as the PhysX effects are in BL2, they don't use as much processing power as Arkham City, which has more accurate and realistic cloth physics, plus smoke, fog etc which BL2 doesn't have.

OK I give up. The problem came back!

It seems to happen intermittently. I've tried everything and nothing has gotten rid of the problem 100%. The last thing I tried were some ini tweaks, and those helped a lot as well, so these areas are much smoother now compared to the stock ini.

There's a huge thread about this over at gearbox forums, so many people (especially with high end rigs) are having this problem.

According to the thread, NVidia blames the game for not utilizing multicore/multithreaded processors effectively enough which causes the lag spikes; especially with PhysX enabled, as it requires more CPU orchestration.

I'm pretty sure the problem isn't due solely to PhysX, because I have almost every PhysX title, and I've never encountered this problem before..

It's really a shame that the game engine is so weak that it has difficulty keeping up when PhysX is enabled on high... D:

Loving this game (level 34), finally got a legendary shield at the weekend which makes a nice difference. Also, finally got some very meaty weapons, great fun. haven't played anything else since I got this in the steam sale.

New level cap today....has anyone bought it yet?

How much? Was kind of hoping it would be free.

I am interested, but leveling is so slow after a point, and I have so many characters, not sure I want to try to start levelling further. Is there new content along with the level increase?

Edit: I started one character in UVHM mode and got frustrated at dying so much, so not sure if I want to go against even tougher enemies.

I did not see it available this morning before I left for work.

I'm currently at level 58 with my Siren, sorta just starting Hammerlock's (still need to beat Badassasaurus--I am finding him virtually impossible to solo with Lilith in UVHM...) and also have Tiny Tina's to go...so not sure how best to focus my leveling now.

I only arrived in Sanctuary for UVHM main campaign, so I'm pretty sure I have plenty of content where I won't feel that 14 more levels is a grind, but I don't want to be underleveled or overleveled for anything. Also, I'm thinking I want to go straight to digistruct, if I can, as the thought is that more people would be around wanting to play it? It seems very unfriendly for solo players.

I think it should be about 5 dollars. There is a campaign, that is designed for 4 man teams, sort of a RAID like setup that is supposed to take ~1 hour each run. I think there is more than one map.

You also have the ability to "overlevel" yourself after you hit 71, through some funky rank system, which gives you access to even better gear or something like that.

I remember now reading about that. I dont really play online, so I probably wont get the new level cap. I have so many backlogged games on steam that I really should take a break from BL2 anyway.

5-Key Code: CTC3J-KR9H5-WTZ3T-TJ3TB-6SRRJ

There's no end date specific on the Gearbox site, but they say it should last for a while: http://www.gearboxsoftware.com/community/articles/1084/borderlands-2-ultimate-upgrade-pack-2-out-now
