BloodBorne - Might be the game that make me buy a PS4

I always like the hand holding discussions cause i'm also from the age when games were only telling you what you had to do next and only told you that what you were looking for was "to the east". So you had to actually venture to the east to explore a bit and ultimately find what you were looking for. No arrows, markers or any exact location of your next objective.

That is what I am missing in modern games. I also think that is why games like the Risen series won't ever be that popular anymore.

But I also like to know where i'm going and some games are doing it right. Dragon Age Inquisition is a fun game but I don't like to open the map and see dozens of icons scattered everywhere...but the game is fun so I play it.

The Dark Souls genre brings something a bit more different on the table. It's pretty linear sure but it's not your mindless action game where you can simply jump in the middle of the fray and hack faces. You have to approach carefully and be patient. This series is greatly rewarding and equally frustrating.

Bloodborne, I hope this game will rock the world, look so damn dark and great.

Good news, someone offered me a nice price for my PS3...if all ends well i'm gonna be a PS4 owner by tomorrow.

What made the Souls games special wasn't the ability to tell a cohesive story, but the ability to create a world filled with one. They gave the players near endless discovery.

The mechanics were also something I really enjoyed. It was risk vs reward for everything. You either had the skill and timing to perform an action, or you died.

I am finally getting around to picking up another PS4 soon for this game. I hope it is good.

I heard there was an aplha for this game, was that for reviewers only? I would have liked to try the alpha out but I am thinking I may get this game. Did they say you could do online co op with someone? May be helpful for newcomers.

On the more negative:
I have doubts that there will be enough narrative to motivate players like cmdrdredd to want to take part on the journey.

Which has me a little concerned on the game's reception. There's not a lot going on with the PS4 right now, so a lot of players are going to be giving Bloodborne a go, that might not have otherwise... while Bloodborne seems to be a game that is staying faithful to the Souls fan-base. Hopefully there's a bit more narrative in there than I expect, but if it's story is presented similar to a Souls game, I'm not sure how great it's going to go down with the typical gamer that just needed something, anything to play.

There's actually is a trailer for the story:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9kAbFa78kA

Not sure how it will play out through the course of the game but the beginning doesn't look as vague as in Dark Souls.

Again, is the level of difficulty going to be on par with Dark Souls? Is that heir intention?
Yea I believe it will be, just by looking at how the enemies move and attack. Although, this game's attacks seem to be faster paced.

As for the story trailer that may be in the beginning of game to start you off, we won't really know for sure until its out. Hopefully reviews will touch up more on the game's story. If it is appealing to the dark souls category I don't see much of a narrative to give gamers a reason for doing what you do in the game but hopefully I'm wrong.

I'm going to buy it, I might wait a day or two to see if there are any technical problems though.

I still can't decide if it will interest me enough. It looks cool as hell from what I've seen. Ill wait for reviews and I'm only paying about 20+ tax for it due to selling the order.

Yeah I liked the souls games and I like the kind of victorian/gothic setting that this is looking like so it's a definite buy for me. I might wait because I'm going to be busy aynways but it'll probably be a while before there's a big discount so I might just pick it up and try to squeeze in some playtime when I can.

Watching it on Twitch. It is fun looking.

Animations and graphics are really good.
They have it on the psn streams? I just hope it has some story or purpose. The only reason I didn't get into the souls games..always felt like I was just wandering without a purpose of where to go. The combat looks a lot more fun in bloodborne I'll admit that.

Liked dark souls some of the time, but I've yet to finish it. Never got ds2, but probably will at some point. Liking what I see of bloodborne though, so I'm kind of excited. Change of pace, weapons, etc all look like a nice change. Waiting until reviews come out though as while I have faith in what they make, don't want to get burned by new releases as seems to be happening lately.

Still waiting for a good bundle to buy a PS4. This and Order 1886 look like games to pick up. But I want a sweet bundle first!!

There are quite a few ps4's in my area for sale on craigslist. Some are decent prices others include games people don't care about.

So who will be getting this?
Gonna wait for the early reviews, as long as it doesn't turn out to be a lemon I'll get it. I prefer the reviews from Gametrailers.com I seem to relate more to those guys. IGN and Metacritic flat out mean nothing to me.

Well this game seems to be reviewing well on metacritic. Lots of 90's and 100's, even from users. Gonna read some more at lunch today and see what they all have to say.

It is blowing up. A Kotaku writer said he dreams of it, he is completely addicted.
Its nuts how well it reviewed. I'm really wondering if all these people were just big DS fans. I think I'll run out at lunch to get it from best buy. I've seen so many reddit posts about t too.

I suck so bad at Souls games though 🙁
Me too, I'm no good at all. But the combat in bloodborne is not so methodical. Also, the souls games had no story, to follow. From what I gathered from streams, it seems there is a story here, unlike souls where you made your own story as you went along.
