I'm liking what I see so far, I think I'm going to pick this up after work. I kinda wish I had sprung for the collector's edition since I'm a sucker for art-books but it seems like that's already sold out everywhere around here.

My best buy near work had a bunch of copies on the shelf. Picked it up while I was checking out laptops there. Hopefully I can get into it and see how it plays.

Oh, a radom generated level game. That's a plus.

Because this style of game is generally boring.

I might get it and play with a coworker. Need to lift tonight though.

Any day 1 patches?

It's a Demon Souls / Dark Souls successor, pass.

That's what I saw in a couple reviews. Even the headlines read like they were written by an ultra fanboy of the souls games. The souls games just were a little boring for me and what I like in a game. The reviews say this is almost the same except it looks and runs better.

It's like...can't you let someone review the game who didn't really like the souls games and see what they think and give us their opinion? Every review of the game seems like some otaku for these games. I want someone who felt the souls games were not their thing to play this a bit and tell me if it holds their interest any better or what is different that maybe they liked better this time.

That's a line I always go back-and-forth on. Having a longtime fan of a series review a game will likely mean an overly positive review, but then they'll have someone who doesn't like a genre review a game and complain about stuff, and it's totally pointless.

I could barely play Dark Souls because it was so clunky and slow on PC, but Bloodborne seemed like a much-better time.

I'm not a fan of the souls games. I also felt like they were boring and didn't hold my interest. I'll probably report my opinions when I get time to play the game. From what I've read, combat is fast paced and you have many upgradeable weapons and skills because shields and armor aren't as necessary or helpful like in the souls games.

Yeah I understand but even the user reviews. Usually you see random 0 scores on game reviews this time it's random 10s with the review like "thank god for this marvelous game, it's the best." and so forth.

I guess I'm just looking for a review that is more neutral in tone. Can't find one. Looking forward to see what sze5003 thinks cause he probably felt the same I did about the souls series.

Does anybody know if you control the camera with analog stick, or its automatically controlled. I know I'm in the minority but I prefer the camera to move on its own when playing hard intense games. I'm thinking Ninja Gaiden type controls.

The 3 star amazon review in decent.

Here ya go

I think this game has been given a lot of praise for many reasons, though myself I think it's good not great. I'll just list the pros and con's of what I've liked. And in no way shape or form could I possibly play this for even 15 hours, let alone 60. I'm also 39 years old, so I guess the urge just isn't there anymore. Though i was pretty psyched to play it after my digital preorder. I liked Dark Souls I think just a little better than Demon Souls. So here's my opinion.

Pros
Good visuals, not quite as stunning as I'd like, though the character models look better than the environment overall. Very very close attention to detail, and fluid movements.

The story is meh, and it's not really mentioned to much in reviews, but then again I don't think many delve into an engrossing story with a game like this.

Interesting character customisation at the beginning, much like a sports game, or Skyrim. Face mods, hair, skin, weight etc. Though i'm not sure why so many since your character wears a hat, and you can't really see his body. I made mine bald, so it was a bit pointless.

I didn't fully understand the character "origin", but it was also pretty cool. There is actually one called Waste Of Skin, which gives you very little in the way of anything. I'm guessing you'd die even easier if you chose that.

Great atmosphere, the gothic, victorian back drop definitely adds to the intensity. As does the really good sound quality, (in the background, distance as well) This gloomy them is becoming very popular. I still think "Thief", even though average had the best "atmosphere" of any of the old school, mid-evil type games.

I like the fact that upgrading weapons, abilities etc. isn't overwhelming. Just enough to toughen you up.

Cons
A few framerate drops here and there. Nothing drastic

Your firearm really seems useless, as it barely even stuns most enemies

The difficulty is even well, worse than Demon Souls/Dark Souls, no shield or any kind of defense this time around. You just have to learn to dodge and pray you don't get hit.

Some enemies just jump out and kill you without you knowing it, other than a few warning from the skeleton messengers.

Very wonky camera, the faster you move the faster it moves, or to slow. Can give you a headache after a while. Probably the most disappointing thing about the game.

Controls can be sluggish, depending on which weapon you choose. Using the large axe cause great damage one handed, great with two hands but is very slow to respond. I regret not going with the smaller "saw blade cleaver" from the beginning.

Game can get very repetitive, which is to be expected with a game like this, also it's just far to long for my tastes. 20 hours would be plenty.

Honestly, as I mentioned above, not as graphically splendid as I had hoped. The Order was short and a lot of QT events, so I think it looked twice as good. and IMO, was a little more fun. And way more story driven.

Long load times, not nearly 40 seconds as "one site" in particular state though.

Lastly a few areas where you get stuck, usually breaking something around you can get you freed. Happened about 5 times to me.

So is Bloodborne a bad game? No it's just an average one, and I don't really get why critics, and "most" fans alike give it such high praise. It's definitely not the holy grail of Exclusives IMO. But then again I thought Demon/Dark Souls where both overrated as well. I'm sure once people keep playing the same game for 100 hours or however long they like, they will start to get bored of it. It definitely doesn't have the massive amount of content that Skyrim, or Dragon Age Inquisition have. But it is good for a bit of hack and slash bloody fun. Also I actually think it's humorous that it just disclaims on the screen "You Died", much like Resident Evil's "You Have Died". I guess that's what makes it such a challenge. Though I'm really not up for it anymore. I had my fun, now I'm ready to move on. We need a new Golfing Franchise to go along with these kinds of games. To break the monotony. Also I will add Sony need to step it up with the Exclusives, I spend way more time on Xbox One playing FH2, Sunset Overdrive, Titanfall etc. Even after about a year. Now Uncharted, sadly isn't coming until 2016. Oh well.

Well the game is unbelievable.. Unbelievably hard at least for me. Can't tell how many times I died already.

The atmosphere, graphics, it all fits together. Very nicely done. It gives off an ominous presence.

The combat is much quicker than souls games. Enemies attack you in groups at times which makes it extremely hard to avoid because the first area is a bit cramped. It starts off one by one then eventually they jump and swarm on you from different directions.

You control the camera with the right thumbstick and walk with the left. I don't know how you equip items to the quick menu like Molotov's. I found these extremely useful against groups. There is no pause, need to access the menu, oh well your still in the game and can still be attacked so watch your back.

The combat is quick, seems fluid if you know what your doing and I'll say I don't. You have to dodge a lot. The hit boxes could use some work. A lot of times I get ready to strike and I'm already hit..I experienced this in the dark souls game too. Can't stay too close and you gotta watch the bad guys.

Its not slow like dark souls it moves at a much faster pace. I may start over with another weapon because I can't get anywhere. I'm using the saw cleaver and blunderbliss by the way.

The gun doesn't seem to do much but stun enemies which you can then dispatch them with r2 or r1. Also it seems the aim is way off, if you are facing the enemies but slightly budge the stick by accident while going to attack, you are going to miss. Found that annoying because then you get swarmed.

Your character moves quickly which is a good thing but when you are trying to face an enemy to hit them, sometimes this isn't good because it can throw you off.

I got to say the reward for getting them back is a nice feeling. I'm still in the very first section, I keep dying and loading times are annoying but I haven't installed the 2gb patch yet which is suppose to remedy that.

I'll have to play more to uncover the story and what happens next but you are just thrown in and you are always on your toes because there is no telling where the next save lamp will be. Makes me want to keep playing despite how annoying it is to die 50 million rimes.

At least your health does not decrease as you die like it did in the souls game. I gotta keep playing to see how I feel about it but it's interesting for sure, not your typical game we are used to playing. Need to think and react quickly.

Did I mention its efffin hard?

Does it have a story with some direction this time or is it the same as the souls games in that you wander around not really knowing much about anything?

The great reviews make me want to run out and buy this game right away. But having to use the 2 analog sticks is a deal breaker. I suck at coordinating movement and aim with them. And in an extremely difficult game l know getting the best out of your character is very important to say the least.

The other disappointing thing I'm reading is that there are not a whole lot of options for weapons and armor. One guy said he basically used one weapon the entire game until near the end and that armor looked largely the same you just pick based on stats. Also there isn't much in the way of loot. Defeating a boss will give a new item to buy but beyond that, not much. No fancy armor rewards for defeating a hard enemy.

Seems like this game doesn't have enough reward for me. No real loot to hunt and if it has no story to push me along, I'll likely lose interest.

I couldn't get past the first part to advance for the game but the story is something along the lines of you returning to yharnam and getting a blood transfusion which somehow your body does not resist and turn you into a monster.

Your job is to hunt the beasts and return peace to the city it seems. The transfusion gives you nightmares where you see the beasts and then question reality around you. There is a story but its not straightforward. I'll have to get past where I am to figure out where it goes.

There are small oil lamps by buildings which you can knock on the doors and interact with NPC's but it seems they want nothing to do with me yet perhaps because the area is not cleared yet.

The wiki here states some of the loot and armor, weapons. Although I don't think its complete.

http://bloodborne.wiki.fextralife.com/Armor

If anyone else gets it and I get far enough to trigger co op I'll probably need help. My psn is selayan. In fact just judging by how I can't even get to the second save point, I will need help.

The reviews clearly state that if souls wasn't your game then you shouldn't get this one either.

Stop just looking at the scores. I don't care how high you score an MMO there is zero chance of me buying one.

Souls was definitely not my type of game but something doesn't make me want to quit playing bloodborne yet. I wonder how long that feeling will last lol.

Firearms.

I think I noticed this from playing. Those are SILVER bullet. I think that they don't kill. They poison. So when you attack with your ax or whatever, the characters take more damage.

R3 button. USE IT!

You can change clothes and see more of your characters model that you customized.

I was searing at the game till I learned how to do things correctly. Now that I am getting the hang of it, it is more enjoyable. I'll have to play more to pass judgment one way or another.

How do you equip Molotov's without having to open the menu to use one?

I think today I will try out a build with the origin as lone survivor, threaded cane, and blunderbliss. Guides are recommending it for new people. I didn't have trouble with the sword cleaver but it wasn't as fast as I'd like or maybe I just haven't gotten all the mechanics down yet.

I've been using the whip cane and blunderbuss, not sure what build I picked though. I'm liking the whip cane for the range it offers, makes it pretty easy to get in hits between dodges. The blunderbuss doesn't do too much damage unless you get really close but it's great for stunning groups of guys in front of you.

I'm really enjoying the game so far despite getting killed a lot, I was making progress after getting more used to the controls but I'm still in the first area. The atmosphere in the game is great, and playing it with surround sound in a dark room makes the experience really creepy. The graphics are really good in general but the frame-rate definitely suffers at some points. It's not too bad but still a little annoying.

I did the Blunderbliss. And picked whatever background had the best endurance.

I just have to stop dying so much so I can get anywhere decent in the game. Then again I'm not really sure where I'm suppose to go because when I get further than the last time I'm dead.
