Maybe "standard" is the wrong word, but I seem to remember Rainbow 6 having lean. That was 12 years ago...definitely not a feature that should be dropped IMHO.



Dual wield is innovative...since when? Goldeneye 007 for Nintendo 64?

it might be a standard in military SIM games, but not in FPS games in general.
Some of the biggest FPS games ever created don't have lean - Counter Strike, Unreal Tournament series, Quake series.

I'm pretty sure Crysis didn't have lean, the Bioshock series doesn't have lean, I don't think any of the other Valve FPS games (TF2, HL2, etc) have lean, and several others that I can't think of now.

MW2 single player was a clusterfuck, but I couldn't care less about the 6hrs I spent on it.

MW2 multiplayer looks good on the surface, but once you play it a bunch, all the flaws shine through and IMO make the game unenjoyable.

Maybe they will fix these things with BO, but probably not. I like the idea of a zombie mode, though.

See, i used to complain a lot about MW2 being unrealistic and stupid, but then when i played it...i said to my self..."who gives a fuck?!?!? The game is still fun as hell". So in the end, the game is still fun as hell. And that people that "pretend to dislike" CoD give it a try and remove all the criticizing from their minds and simply enjoy the game's aggressive, fast paced style, you will really begin to enjoy it completely it. Again...my experience was on PS3, so the community is a lot better than on PC/360.

Well, if you take in consideration that the 360 and PC communities are filled with Glitchers, modders and Hackers...the PS3 is really better off. I played both versions (thanks my 3x RROD'd 360) and i seriously like the PS3 community a lot better...you still find the 12 y/o kids and the black people rapping to the beat of their favorite rap song, but its a lot more mature, you can find friends quickly and have great conversations....I also found no difference with the quality of the connections, although in certain game modes it takes a bit longer to find a game compared to 360.

From what i remember with my 360 run...all day, it was people with modded controllers and 12 year olds calling each other the N word...

Anyone who claims Treyarch makes a subpar game obviously hasn't played cod5 after the patches. They gave amazing support for the PC version, but since the game wasn't finished at release all competition left cod5 and went back to cod4.

Cod5 is an amazing game now, and all the lessons Treyarch learned will help make black ops great. Certainly better than mw2 even if that's not saying much.

4. The networking sucks
5. In combination with 4, the hitboxes were wonky
6. The constant, annoying kill streaks suck
7. The balance was off

MW1 was great, IMO. The 2nd felt worse than the first in almost every way possible.

Now, Black Ops is looking promising. I think Treyarch is focusing more on making a FUN game rather than pushing out whatever crap they want because they know it will sell. I say this because of all the additional game modes they're including. And if the networking/hitboxes work ANY better than MW2, I'll be much happier with it...

I just felt that MW2 actually felt like a new FPS experience, something I haven't really felt since far cry perhaps. I've played MW1.

This. It seems like the CoD franchise has become the video game industry's analogue to a blockbuster set of movies like Harry Potter or LotR.

Kind of sad since the poor quality of the CoD games takes away potential earnings from competitors with actual innovative games. I just can't believe these CoD games are selling millions of copies each year, and then they release a rehashed copy the next year and sell millions more. To top it off, they have the gall to charge $10 more than the standard MSRP for video games.

As long as we PC admins have server side control over all this crazy over the top noob stuff with cvars or mods to completely remove them then it will be a blast again.

I am looking forward to it, I just wish the maps weren't so damned small.

Compared to? I'm intrigued to hear what you consider a more sophisticated FPS game. The campaign is one of the most cinematic experiences I've had in a video game, and the multiplayer is definitely more dynamic than most others. If anything, every other FPS is dumbed down.

Try ARMA2...it's so much more "sophisticated" that it's defined as a mil-sim.
It's makes CoD games waaaaay dumbed down.

Let's not forget such wonderful things as:
1. Other crappy perks (Commando is just straight bullshit, Stopping Power -- are you kidding me?)
2. Ridiculous accuracy problems -- my favorite gun in the game is the RPD, which I use to out-duel snipers regularly. You tell me how I can run around with an LMG and be more accurate than a guy with a semi-auto sniper rifle + scope. The m93 machine pistol is also deadly. How is it more accurate than an m16 or famas? God knows.
3. Lazy map design. So many of the maps just plain suck.
4. Awful network / network code -- I always have trouble partying up with a friend who is on the exact same network as me. When we do find a game, it is either hosted on 56k or is in Malaysia.
5. A lack of vote-kick. I get that they didn't want dedicated servers, but at least give players the opportunity to kick the guy who's running around shooting everyone in the head.
6. Balancing issues (goes to #2) -- the game cannot figure out how to create a fair team if its life depended on it.

ALL of that being said, I still have fun playing.

We(the people that buy the game) will still enjoy it, play it, cry for it, etc. And the douchebags that don't, will keep wasting the rest of their lives complaining about it on the internet. Yeah, they said there will be rcon support - but that might be just bait.

I can support MW2 except for the lack of handling cheats. That was the only thing I couldn't rationally understand.

Other than that, IMO, there is nothing out there as polished as the COD MW series. People will still buy it because there is no other better alternative. For instance, MOH is all ready looking like a flop and Bad Company 2 had no longevity and had issues with gun mechanics.
