Hmm what about the nuke launcher in UT2K4? It was fun using the alternate mode where you controlled the nuke while it was in air :D.

The cerebral bore in Turok was great.

Definitely have to agree with C4 in Bad Company 2...yup it can be annoying and cheap but it's one of the best weapons in the game in the right hands. Between taking down buildings to kamikaze hummer attack on tanks, it was just insanely flexible.

I was a big fan of using it as a trap weapon. I'd hole up in a house or other defendable position lay down C4 at the entrances and blow it whenever I saw enemy close enough. Just gotta be careful you don't bring down the building on your head!

What was the weapon that shot out a glop of nuclear or poison green goo and disolved your enemy?

I think it might have been from Unreal or Unreal tournament.

also - severed limb of your opponent from Rune.

That might have been it, but maybe my memory is mixing up weapons from past games.

I thought I remembered that the glob would encase and freeze your enemy and then melt them, but it might have been a different weapon that did that.

If you want weapons of enemy-melting goodness, try the Crusader games. I think that every weapon that didn't shoot standard bullets had a different death animation associated with it, a good number of them involving melting flesh.

rocket submachine gun from that quake 2 enhance weapons multiplayer mod. a machine gun that fire rockets, wow.

There was also a UT 2004 mod like that called the OMFG Rocket Launcher.

More great Unreal/Unreal Tournament weapons:

Biorifle (aka "goo gun") -- shoot little gobs or hold the secondary fire button and release it to shoot out a large goo goober.

Razorjack/Ripper -- fires spinning razor blades that can ping off of walls.

Flak Cannon -- fires red hot pieces of flak that can bounce off walls

Shock Rifle Combo attack -- the secondary fire shoots out a ball of plasma and if you hit with a primary fire laser bolt you get an area-of-effect explosion. (This was the weapon and attack of choice of the clanner pros.)

8-Ball/Rocket Launcher--loads 6 at a time and then fires them off.

Shrink gun in Duke Nukem. Shall we ever see its like again? A combined shink-gun/gravity gun might be fun - shrink 'em and hurl 'em.

If I remember correctly, FEAR had a gun similar to a modern stake gun, with which I pinned some dudes to walls.

Yup, the Penetrator was fun to play with, I still think the stake gun in Painkiller was better because of the low rate of fire, forcing you to aim carefully. There was this level in the original Painkiller where you were supposed to use only the stake gun to get the tarot card at the end, I really enjoyed that level.

The flare gun in Blood was pretty fun.

Seeing the enemies running around on fire and screaming was unexpectedly enjoyable.

Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker

Until your guild has 0 of them despite running MC weekly from 2 weeks in. And then the downzy guilds on your server have 3 each and 40Naxx is in unofficial 'hardmode' for you because that additional 10% speed reduction was so powerful.

We never got one of each binding either :(. You almost always get the... right one I believe, but the other one never drops.

Rock-It Launcher.

Yeah, the pistol from Halo 1 was the most overpowered weapon in the whole series.

Haha awesome.

I loved putting C4's on helicopters, then flying around looking for other choppers. We wouldn't necessarily fly into them - that was too easy. We'd get as close as possible next to them, to give them a 'wtf?' moment before blowing everyone including ourselves up. Dropping a c4'd blackhawk onto a tank and detonating while parachuting down was awesome too. Ahhh... I wish BF2 worked in windows 7. :/

It does work in Win 7...
