Best weapons in games

Someone needed to make a thread about the best weapons that could be found/had in various games. FPS and RPG alike, like the deep frying SMG's from Borderlands.

I personally liked the sniper and the machine gun in Serious Sam, any Volcano or the double anarchy SMG's in Borderlands, the Revenant machine gun in Mass Effect 2(off course the various ammo enhancements have a lot to do with this), the painkiller and the stake-gun in Painkiller, the VSS Vintorez in Stalker, but the prize probably goes to the gravity gun.

Dual Cyclones set to "magazine discharge" in Perfect Dark. PD actually had a lot of awesome weapons come to think of it.

The Chicago Typewriter in Resident Evil 4. (Console game, I know.) That shit was bananas. You could complete an entire playthrough of the game with ONLY that machine gun, no problem.

How about the Stake Gun in Painkiller. Do it right and you can pin monsters to the wall or get multiple hits.

Yes. I don't know how I forgot about the stake gun. One of the most satisfying weapons ever? Probably.

Very much this. That game was way ahead of it's time and on such a limited platform. But yeah, that gun was one of the more unique weapons that I have ever used in a game.

I would also contend the AC-130 in COD MW1 was an EPIC weapon.

The Land Shark from Armed and Dangerous and the Frying Pan from L4D2/TF2. Nothing is more satisfying than the CLANG when smacking someone with a cast iron frying pan.

Pfft, noob. Keep your silly 1.10 weapon and give me the good ol' Fury runeword, that was THE melee weapon back in 1.09.

We weren't discussing versions. Fury used to be best, but in the game as it stands, ebotdz is the best 🙂

I do miss pre-synergies d2 sometimes 🙁

Quakeworld - rocket launcher, super nail gun, thunderbolt or double barrel shotgun with quad damage.

I really liked the super nail and thunderbolt with quad. Even though they did less dmg then the rocket launcher, you did not have to worry about splash damage.

Diablo - Kings axe of Haste

Tribes disc launcher. AKA stormhammer or something like that IIRC? Officially called spinfusor? Can't remember.

Looking forward to Tribes Universe though. Hoping it will be good.

Cerebral Bore in Turok 2 on N64 was a good time in multiplayer 😉
Of course, my counter to that was using the Raptor 😀

Duke Nukem 3D had some good ones...agreed on Perfect Dark as well.
You had to use the BFG 9000 effectively to really reap the benefits. Understanding the splash damage made a huge impact on it's effect.
