I'm old school.
Nothing ever gave me more shooting pleasure than the DOOM shotgun & double barreled shot gun.

Oh... one thing did, but it ain't a gun: the chainsaw and a room full of pink demons.

Shogo - Rocket launcher while in mech form. Or the silenced submachine gun while on foot.

The double barrel coach gun in Serious Sam, the crossbow in HL2, the alt-fire grenade from the flak cannon in UT.

Which is why it says best weapon and not best gun ;)

Favourite: Gauss Gun (half-life) also loved the laser-guided rocket launcher.

Snarks were also pretty cool, but the best weapon I have used is The Spy's sneakiest weapon in Team Fortress 2: invisibility.

Oh yeah, Fallout 2's .44 Magnum Revolver was pretty awesome. Get the right perks and you could just about unload the whole thing in one turn.

Fallout 3 had Lincoln's Repeater, which was a great gun as well, but it didn't feel as special because the ammo for it was so rare.

Speaking of Fallout, a fully upgraded Turbo Plasma Rifle was pretty much king of weapons in the first game.
