Indeed.

If you can, get Dante's Inferno off Alive in Athens.

Amazing. I'll send it to you if you want.

Yeah, I listened to this album on the way to work everyday for a month.

BTW, I think In Flames is cool.

I don't care for In Flames as much.. Don't like their singer....

I saw them with Iced Earth last year. IE was by far the better performance. :D

I'm totally oblivious to this whole heavy guitar genre (i listen to mostly trance/classics/movie scores/some mainstream)

what's the diff between Metal vs Rock?
Probably going to be pretty subjective..

For me, it has mostly to do with the guitarwork of the song. Usually fast tempo, palm-muted modular riffs.

Most rock songs have little to no "crunch".. just distorted strummed chords.

I've always considered Sabbath metal because of their music's "crunchiness". :)

Yeah, you're right. Sabbath is definately metal. I'm not familiar with the song mentioned in the first post, though.

Since I've only been listening to all my Metallica alblums for the most part lately I'll name a few of my fav's from them:

Breadfan
Disposable heros
Eye of the beholder
Metal militia
And of course, Master of puppets :p

I could really go on naming good riffs for days though.

I've been trying to pick just a couple of riffs, but even narrowing down the field to make it only the riffs that grab me by my throat and scream "Listen!" it's still too many. :(

Although bolstered by the orchestra, I would have to add G-n-R, November Rain, especially Slash's solo in the middle. Also must add AC/DC, You Shook Me to the mix.
