Now that I'm ...."back" I can defend my honor.
How am I supposed to trust the opinion of a bull dick-eater aficionado? I think those tastes are a bit too subjective. That being said, those photos don't look like the pastrami I was getting at the refuge ~8-9 years ago. Something is up.
Your fault. You trusted somebody who said you could get a good Reuben outside of New York City. That's just silly.
The USA must make the worst beer, then? No point in ever bothering with beer made in the US because it only belongs in its specific country of origin. Besides, if you can't make your own pastrami at home and teach yourself how to do it better than some generic NY place, then I feel sad.
what the hell is a vegan reuben. if it's not corned beef, it's not a reuben.
I once lived directly next to this place
It was always very popular, and I never understood why. People would drive from other towns just to eat here...sometimes other nearby states. I soon learned that it was a very popular vegan place. Still, I was confused. My trained vegetarian cousin visited one time and we went there...the broth I ordered was awful. Completely bland and flavorless. Whatever she ordered was likewise awful (according to her). Her husband's dish is awful.
So, I don't get it. I just chalked it up to most vegetarians simply have trained themselves to tolerate and even love bland, boring food.
Sometime later on, one of those Foodnetwork "Best in the US" shows was covering pastrami. This "vegan hellhole" placed in the top 3 on their list with their "famous vegan pastrami" slop. What a crime.
