In Manassas just drive down to the Generals Ridge golf course and stop off and Clarkes.
Best god damn Reuben in the whole fucking world.

Refuge > your Langer's

plus, you get to enjoy it with tasty Belgian beers.

refuge is on my list, missed it when I went up to Norcal.

reading reviews, seems to be in the style of Katz, not Langers.

and we all know, Langers > Katz ;)

anyway, I must eat this sandwich @ Refuge and put an end to this debate.

Langers, where you can eat the best pastrami on the west coast while waiting for your fake id to finish.

Exactly! I'll try to give refuge a whirl next time I'm in the bay area, but Redwood City isn't very convenient to where I spend most of my time.

How dare you sir, state such a place but fail to identify its location and name when you know I am in such a frail state and (potentially) local!

I request, nay , I demand you relinquish the identity of this local place that you speak of this very instant!

I take personal injury and assume an egregious attack on my person that you did not mention the locale of this establishment; if I ever see you in the streets, I shall have to inconveniently fall on you using my extensive Judo knowledge (or get a Reuben w/ ya, whatevs)!

Does Langers have a pastrami burger? Honestly, it's not my favorite thing, and I avoid it, but the idea of glorious pastrami atop a beef patty is worthy of consideration.

Technically, it's San Carlos...but it might as well be Redwood City, or San Mateo, whichever side you live on.

a beef patty has no place on a langers pastrami sandwich.

#19 (ask for fatty if you're into fat) / fries well / cream soda on tap (or a shake if you're into that kinda thing)

corned beef hash on the side if you wanna get crazy.

YES PLZ. Thanks for the tip.

I think the actual request was "untrimmed". I forget, you'll figure it out when you're there ;)

Jesus christ. How you guys can eat anything more than just the sandwich is beyond me, and I'm borderline fatass. But yes, #19 OR #44, depending on which style you want to go ("cold"--pastrami is still warm--sandwich or grilled). I always substitute swiss cheese in on the #44 though.

my usual order is #19 / fries well / CBH / cream soda / shake

I split that with my GF, so it's not THAT much food.

Hey have any of you ordered a french dip there? How is it? I've always wanted to try it, but I don't go often enough, so when I do go I just can't break from my #19 and #44. I always used to get french dips at Berger's Burgers in Mammoth Lakes 10+ years ago and they were pretty awesome.

Oh that's not soooo bad then.

blasphemy. go to langers for pastrami not french dip!

I hated the french dip @ Philippes, haven't been to Coles. I hear Lawry's Carvery makes a killer french dip, that'll be the next one I try.

Boggles my mind why Philippes does so well. One of the worst sandwiches ever.

not cheap either, and NO AU JUS ON THE SIDE WTF. potato salad best part of meal.

lamb french dip @ philippes significantly better than beef, but Langers trumps both by a mile.

Ya I went to Philippe's a long time ago for a french dip and came away really disappointed. And yes, go to Langer's for pastrami--but let's say for some mystical cosmos unknown to god reason I was there and didn't want pastrami (blasphemy). Is the (beef) french dip *worth* getting?
