Ahh you're one of those ignorant fools that thinks in black and white only. Not all kids are alike. A lot of kids grow up just fine with simple discipline but sometimes you need to smack a kid to get them to come to their senses. Any retard who thinks otherwise is fully responsible for those asshole kids I see every single day on the metro running around the cars screaming at the top of their lungs at each others using the worst type of language. This in front of parents with their children.

I think this is the most brilliant post of projection I have ever seen. Using critical thinking skills to teach a child makes sense. Resorting to base violence is the resort of someone incapable of thinking skills.

Oh, and personal insults is also the resort of someone without critical thinking skills...

I have a belt hanging next to my bedroom door. The girls know what it's used for. When they've done something very wrong (i.e. lie, be disrespectful) I tell them to get my belt. I've only used it twice.

As for myself, I lied once to my Dad, and he took a belt to me. I never got switched after that by him. My Mom on the other hand, I got nailed by her slippers and pinched on the under arm so many times I have no clue how I survived. :D

You've perpetuated the circle of violence. Congrats!

My mom "beat" me. So did the Nuns in Catholic school.

I would much rather take a ruler to the hands or butt than to take a belt in the same places, though.

I asked my mamma to use a ruler once and she said i was getting smart with her.

What did I do for the ass whoppin that time? I tried to take the car and drive myself to the Boys and Girl's Club because she wouldn't let me go that day. I released the parking break, got scared, and bolted from the car and the door got caught on the light pole outside and it was bent really badly. I was 9.

Just talking about it reminds me of how warm my ass was after she got done with me. heh.

Not as funny as the guy that spends $6k on speakers because "there is a HUGE difference" only to find out that he's been watching movies with Analog sound.......and didn't even know about it or what the difference was.

:cool::cool::cool:

second funniest thing i've read on here, thanks!

That I have, and if it keeps my daughters from getting into trouble the way it did with me, then all the better for them in the long run. It's a tool, one used very sparingly, but a tool nonetheless. Of course there are better options, but most of those options are for minor transgressions. Are you telling me that if your child tells you a bald-faced lie, your just going to put them in time out? or take a toy away for an indeterminate amount of time?

You have no proof of that whatsoever... it is simply something you tell yourself to rationalize and justify the violence.

I posted a thread like this a long time ago, not going to bother reading the comments. Basically what happens is that people who were beat as children will use that as evidence to beat their own. People who are against beating children find that either they were not beat as children, and it worked, or they were beat, and it didn't work.

Punishing your child by force IS allowed, so long as it doesn't cause significant damage.

Why?

Because some kids just don't respond to reason and logic.

Adults don't respond to reason and logic either, but we don't go around attacking them...

There are more options then reason and logic and beating them.

violence isn't something civilized adults use to solve problems. I think that's the example you're setting by not hitting your kids, however I do endorse the beating of some children. :D

Where are these civilized adults you speak of? Or are they only civilized in how they speak, dress and eat?

There's a difference between discipline and abuse. I have to educate many parents on this in what seems like a daily basis. It's not a hard concept but it eludes a lot of people. You can't treat a child like an adult, their not.

I think some of you guys are thinking that these "beatings" involve being tied to a tree and being beaten senseless.

A few strikes with the belt and its over. Don't do it again.

Either that or end up on Jerry Springer cause your mom is scared of you after you gave her a black eye for not cooking your steak the way you wanted.

So will you be handling the discipline of our children, then? ^_^

Ack - giving mom black eye. I did that once. Not one of my finest moments... :\ :(
