You people make me sick.. so pathetic that people need to justify and rationalized how they were beaten as kids... "Threats of violence were the only thing that kept me out of jail!"

Sticking your head in the sand is not the solution either. Sometimes a kid needs an ass beating. No ones talking about savagely beating them day and night. I've never understood why pussies are so against it.

Let me say this - active parenting of any type beats what most parents do these days. Spank your kids, don't spank your kids, I don't care but do something. Most of the little hellions you see cruising around lacked parenting of any kind, not simply spanking.

Ohh yea

If your kid needs a beating, then your parenting skills must suck and you probably should never have been a parent. I suppose it could teach a lesson to your kid that their parent is a dimwitted coward who turns to violence as a solution.

Completely and 100% incorrect. Quick questions. Were you beaten as a kid and do you have any kids?

Nope, I had intelligent parents... You know.. ones that don't think that the only options are sticking your head in the sand and beating up your kid like a retarded invalid.

Yes, I have a child.

some kids need to be spanked, but only because the parents have failed so far.

My parents never laid a finger on me and I turned out fine, same with all my childhood friends.

I was spanked, but only for the worst of my offences. I think I can count on one hand the number of times I was spanked. Glad I was, too; straightened me out when I needed it most. When I have a child, if the need is there, I may very well spank my child which will be interesting because the g/f and I are of two different schools; I'm ok with spanking in certain situations and she is so totally against it. Guess I just won't tell her about it hehe

I think you're getting "beating" confused with "spanking."

When I hear the word beating I think of closed-fist punches, hitting around the face and upper body, that stuff. Which is obviously way over the line if directed towards kids, no matter what the situation.

But like, spanking? Spanking isn't wrong or bad. It ideally shouldn't even hurt for more than a second. In many cases, simply the threat of a spanking is enough to get the kid in line, and even if you do have to spank them, the humiliation of it is more important than the pain. It doesn't need to hurt long term.

Just trying to figure out what your position really is, if you think anyone who has ever spanked their kid is a "retarded invalid" or if you're only referring to actual child abuse.

Ahh you're one of those ignorant fools that thinks in black and white only. Not all kids are alike. A lot of kids grow up just fine with simple discipline but sometimes you need to smack a kid to get them to come to their senses. Any retard who thinks otherwise is fully responsible for those asshole kids I see every single day on the metro running around the cars screaming at the top of their lungs at each others using the worst type of language. This in front of parents with their children.

That's probably it. I don't think anyone here is saying punch the crap out of your kids so they get black eyes and bruises (aka child abuse) A spanking or a smack is entirely different.

This from the douchenozzle that thinks making kids eat the same meal as the rest of the family is child abuse.

The human species has evolved for millions of years to use pain as an means of modifying behavior to avoid things that cause pain. Not using that to your advantage as a parent is incredibly stupid. Your parents did not use all the tools available to them. Their failure to mold you into a decent person was inevitable.

I have a belt hanging next to my bedroom door. The girls know what it's used for. When they've done something very wrong (i.e. lie, be disrespectful) I tell them to get my belt. I've only used it twice.

As for myself, I lied once to my Dad, and he took a belt to me. I never got switched after that by him. My Mom on the other hand, I got nailed by her slippers and pinched on the under arm so many times I have no clue how I survived. :D

Beating your children: Whats so wrong?...

..All the parents were relatively blind to the fact that there was anything wrong with what they were doing...

Beating your child is wrong. It's a fact. You said so yourself.
Maybe your English teachers should have beaten you.

I see nothing wrong with a swat on the backside. Kids get wound up to the point that they aren't hearing you. A little swat can be like a reset button. It's an attention getter.
Spanking as punishment? It is extremely rare in my home. It has to be a measured act, not done out of anger. Not that we don't get frustrated and angry at times. But we're the adults and we exercise self control.

I used to get a beating from a teacher in front of the whole class. With one of those thick ass rulers too.

Guess what happened when I got home and my father found out my teacher whooped my ass?

That's right, another beating.

If I can press a magic button to go back in time and relive all that, I would NOT change a thing (I needed it!!)

I strived to get high marks not only for my self but to please my family. I tried to stay out of trouble because I knew it was wrong, and i knew i would upset my family. The beatings you could say were positive reinforcement, because they most definitely worked.

All the same for me, except for the beatings part. I was scared shitless of getting in trouble, but that was accomplished without any corporal punishment. I think on the grand scheme its vastly more important to have parents who are interested in your success as a person and demand personal accountability from a very young age. Everything else is a smaller detail. But yeah if you're a piece of crap person as parent then beating your kids is just more fuel for the fire for the rage and frustration they will feel as they grow up.

funniest thing i've read on here in a long time, thanks lol!

Not as funny as the guy that spends $6k on speakers because "there is a HUGE difference" only to find out that he's been watching movies with Analog sound.......and didn't even know about it or what the difference was.

I would like to make sure that everyone got a good look at this post. This is someone who uses a personal attack followed by a semi stalkerish falsehood and expects to be taken seriously.

Wait wait.. I thought you were so brilliant that you used an assumption as fact.. then when it turns out you were wrong, your response is to insult... Do you expect to be taken seriously?
