just saw it last night, very good film. Acting could have been a little better, graphics were amazing, and I actually enjoyed the 3D which I usually don't

I'll wonder how much better it would have done if we hadn't been hit by the most badass december storm in a few decades. Just a hunch, but I bet that made a big difference.

Would love to be a fly on the wall of the studio execs reading the weather report before opening weekend. Probably set a record for most 4 letter words in a minute.

yea considering it made like 270million worldwide I bet the numbers would be higher if there wasn't a blizzard slamming the east coast.

It fell within the range Fox predicted so they're probably pretty happy.

The post viewing surveys are extremely positive and indicate that people will be back for repeat viewings. That combined with the limited number of IMAX and digital 3D screens means it should hold up well over the next few weeks.

Also, if it wasn't so bloody long they could fit more showing in, so that would lower the initial numbers a bit.

Yea, that is part of it too. In the long run I think it will actually help word of mouth to get out. As far as epics go it's actually not all that long. The first Lord of the Rings clocks in at about 180 minutes for comparison.

Everyone who I've talked to that was on the fence about seeing this that went now can't stop gabbing about it to their friends. Especially women who were indifferent in most of the pre-release surveys are even scoring the film higher then the young male demo.

Well it's only 18 minutes shorter, but point taken.

My girlfriend enjoyed the movie much more than I did, she felt fully immersed and she said the ~3 hours flew by.
