Saw it IMAX 3D, best 3D hands down ever, one of the best scifi flicks in a long time. The 3D enhanced the environment so much and not in a cheesy way it made it much more immersive. I liked the story but it was the weakest link just because everything else was so good. Wife also liked it a lot.

Amazingly stunning visuals in IMAX 3D. Some parts were a little cliche / cheesy but I really liked the movie. And for how long it was, I never really thought that it was slow or dragging.

Definitely recommend seeing this, but 3D is a must for it.

I also want to add that I never went to a 3d movie before tonight as I was worried about how the 3d glasses would fit over my regular glasses. It was a non issue and I want to kick myself for not going sooner and seeing Up in 3d.

I'm sure Up would have been glorious in 3D, but I'm betting Avatar was better. Like you, my first 3D was Avatar and I have zero regrets waiting for it to be my first 3D.

Got back from seeing it at imax with the 3D glasses, the first movie I've seen at imax and it was great. You really have to see this movie at an imax to take it all in, I loved the CGI, truly unbelievable. I really liked the movie, sucks that I now have to wait several months for it to come out on bluray.

I saw it and liked it ok. Its not the best story ever but the visuals are nice. It was a bit cheesy in some places. I'm glad I saw it in the theater in 3d though... I don't think I'll buy buying/ripping the dvd.

Very nice movie just wish they had edited the first 60 mins better the ending fight scenes by itself were worth it and yes as mentioned earlier in this thread watch it in 3D or don't watch it at all! Hollywood probably needs more movies like this to tempt people to come to the movie halls.

Saw it in IMAX 3D. Hugely entertaining!!! One complaint I had was that my friend ordered the bunch of tickets for us online and didn't realize that in order to not sit in the front 1/4th of the theater, you had to pay an extra $4 to buy "assigned" seats. We got back as far as we could. Still, hurt my butt have to lean all the way back the way I did to look up at that screen for 3 hours. However, well worth it! Hoping to see it again!

We just saw it today, and I have to admit that it was a great experience. Make sure to watch it though with 3D Glasses for full effect.

That's a movie I want to see.
I'm not so certain about that:

M. Night Shyamalan is the writer/director for that, and with his track record, don't hold your breath.

as far as this Avatar, I'm gonna see it monday when I get a day off in IMAX 3D.

Yet again another movie that shows 3-D is just a stupid gimmick. I loved the movie but there was only one or two shots that showed off how cool 3-D is. The whole movie would have been just as awesome without 3-D.

retarded movie.

after the alien sex scene, all i could think about is that scene from clerks II where jay gives voice to his dreams and aspirations.

"You know, sometimes I wish I did a little more with my life instead of hanging out in front of places selling weed and shit. Like, maybe be an animal doctor. Why not me? I like seals and shit. Or maybe an astronaut. Yeah. Like, be the first motherfucker to see a new galaxy, or find a new alien lifeform... and fuck it. And people'd be like, 'There he goes. Homeboy fucked a Martian once.'"

Not true whatsoever. There's no way I would have enjoyed it as much in 2D. Pandora comes to life in 3D, just like Cameron intended.

I saw nothing that was just awesome save for a couple shots. 3D is just retarded. It's the same as motion controls. A cool little gimmick to sell to people.

It's becoming annoying how some people are trying to impress us in here by shitting all over this movie.

The reviews are unanimous. It's an awesome 3D experience. The best that's ever been made.

Why don't you just STFU and DIAF.

Oh sorry, it's almost XMas. Never mind the DIAF part.

Watched it last night. Visually exceptional. Story/plot was ok, a bit weak.

Definitely was worth it to watch it in 3D. The sound (at least in my theater) was a bit weak and not loud/clear enough, especially the final battle.

If you agree with this, both of you may be visually deficient and in that case it is not movie's fault.
For example, some people are color blind - can you imagine how much sensory experience they are missing?
Obviously a color blind person would find a movie that is based for the most part on interactions between colors boring.
