Don't the box office gross prices include gross ticket sales? So wouldn't Avatar be getting a huge boost by the fact that it has an IMAX version, where IMAX prices can be 50-75% higher. Especially since it sounds like a lot of people are going to the IMAX showing (if said IMAX is available in their area).

Yes, that is very much true.

Well, I've read a few blockbuster sale articles in the past, and I recall quite a few times when they mention inflation between the price of tickets for the older film compared to the current film. It'd be interesting to find out how much of Avatar's gross sales are split between 2D, 3D and IMAX on a Domestic and Global scale. Another interesting statistic would be what type of showing (IMAX, 3D, 2D) that people attend compared to what is available in their area. In other words, if someone has IMAX, 3D and 2D in their area, are a decent portion going to IMAX or 3D versus 2D?

Well, at least Titanic isn't at the top of the list any more....

Also, anybody who thinks "best selling" = "best movie", then they are essentially saying "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace" is the best movie in the Star Wars series. Last time I checked, it was pretty much a steaming pile of shit.

Anyhow, I enjoyed watching Avatar, I'll even admit that I thought it was good, but that's as far as I wolud go.
