How about someone starts an ATOT beer rating thread, similar to the movie thread we have going?

Anyway, got around to trying the sierra nevada torpedo extra IPA tonight. Classic Sierra Nevada flavors, and very drinkable. Not as hoppy as the other offerings I've tried.

Also was in whole foods today and picked up some things I haven't tried, St. Bernardus and Chimay grande reserve. Looking forward to both

I wanted to start an official beer thread, but I wasn't sure if it already existed or if I needed moderator permission or whatever.

I went out to $2 Pint Night at a local place and got a Rogue Dead Guy Ale. Overall very good, but left an aftertaste that was maybe a bit too bitter.

Might not have been fresh enough. Dead Guy is extremely sensitive to skunking, and you'd never notice it until you've had a good fresh DG. There's almost a root-beery sweet maltyness at the beginning that is only there when it's very fresh.

If any of you guys are lucky enough to be within the distribution zone of Three Floyds brewery you should do yourselves a favor and check out their selection.

Personal favorites are Gumball Head, Black Sun Stout and Moloko Stout.
All of their beers are extremely hoppy but done in interesting ways so they're not just pure bitter like a lot of IPAs. For example, Black Sun Stout is blacker than oil and drinks like a stout but has an extremely fresh/citrously hop flavor that cuts through. It's an awesome combination. I like their beers because they blend interesting combinations like that. Gumball Head is a fantastic wheat beer yet also has this awesome grapefruit esque citrus hop hit at the end. The amarillo hops in that one really bring out a fresh taste and pleasent finish.

I'm lucky enough to be near some of the worlds great breweries, but I've never been able to acquire anything from the great Three Floyd's. Do you have any idea if it's available anywhere in california?

Nah, almost 100% sure it doesn't get that far out. They might ship some though if you contact them. I think they have a store. If it wasn't illegal I'd mail you some.

Got off early yesterday and through the course of the afternoon/evening I consumed a Gulden Draak, a LFDM, and a Marin Co IPA. It was my first time trying the GD n Marin Co., both were fantastic.
