There's a bar that keeps track of all of the beer you've tried. I hit 425 different beers on Tuesday.

As for the Meantime, I haven't tried it, I got it as a Christmas gift. I'm very critical of my IPAs though, (I'm a double IPA fanatic) I'll let you know when I try it.

Sounds like a quality bar! We did a similar thing at the bar where I bounced/tended during college.

Not until you've had Pliny the Younger. ;)

Try a La Fin Du Monde. Report back then. Until then if you like the wheat beer category, I recommend Mothership Wit by New Belgium, Hennepin by Ommegang, Great White by Lost Coast, Hoegaarden, Paulaner Hef, St. Feullien, Allagash White, and the aforementioned La Fin Du Monde.
Hoegaarden on tap... yummy

I've heard good things about Hoegaarden... I'll have to try and get it next time I'm out.

It's one of those beers you can get girls to drink. It's a pretty standard Belgian Wit, nothing incredible, but not bad by any means either. The nice thing is it has fairly widespread availability. I don't care too much for it, but I do like a Dirty Hoe (Framboise (usually Lindemans) + Hoegaarden) every now and again. If you like lighter beers/wheats then it'll definitely be up your alley. Man I love beer.

I'm starting to enjoy beer. In my early college days I would just drink cheap beer like PBR and the like. I'm trying to be a little classier now. :p

Here's my current beer fridge.

You cant really see them, but in the far back left, I have some dogfish head 120min IPA from 2007.

what's the water doing in there?!

oh, and way too much of a hops showcase. :p
I like malts, haven't enjoyed a single hoppy beer yet.

That's how it goes for a lot of us I think. In my early college days I drink whatever I could find. We lived on Natty Light, Beast, etc. It was cheap, it was available. Now, we have refined our tastes a bit. That said, free beer is free beer. I'll drink damn near anything someone hands me free of charge. :p

Well-said. I never drank Beast though, thank God.

Perfect post. Whether or not you like La Fin Du Monde will be a good gauge as to where to go next. As long as we have a beer thread .. look what's hiding in my fridge!

That's my favorite beer, although it tasted much better on tap (or at least I think it was on tap) at Delirium in Brussels.

OP, if you like wheat beers I would recommend Paulaner Hefeweizen.

Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat is pretty much my favorite wheat beer, maybe my favorite beer period.

Bluemoon is a great easy to come by wheat beer that I could drink all day every day.

Trader Joe's has some good beers if you have one around you, try the trader joe's hefeweizen, if you like wheat beers you'll probably like that.

Just started sampling the beer I posted about in the OP (pic).

It's delicious. Pretty strong alcohol-wise (compared to other "normal" beers), but VERY good.

:( You have no idea what I'd do to get a growler of that stuff. Too bad it's small batch and not anywhere outside CA. Damn you Russian River, damn you!

I looked at a place about block away from my apartment (Hawthorne's Cafe) because I know they sell growlers. No luck on your Pliny the Younger. That place does have an awesome beer selection though, so there's an upside. :p

I'm enjoying a Sam Adams Noble Pils right now which is actually a surprisingly good seasonal from them.

Edit: Very hoppy though, obviously.

Do we have an official beer thread? If not, I might see about starting one.

No offense xanis, but you might want to look up how to pour a beer. :p
