ATI to raise prices?

Anandtech has a blog article on the AMD/ATI GPU price hike. While unfortunate, it sounds like the price hike was needed if AMD is trying to make a profit. Low yields by TSMC means they have less working GPU cores as well as higher costs for other components means they had to raise their prices. This doesn't seem like a case of price gouging folks, this is looking like a necessity of business it seems.

Welcome to Economics 101 everyone. AMD has limited supply due to TSMC's screw ups and probably more so because most 40nm production is designated for the 5770 and 5750 (which is where the money is). Add in the fact that they still have zero competition from NVIDIA, and, well, I'm glad I bought early :).
