Now you are just getting argumentative. ;)

You and Rollo have not even owned the X1800 XT to assert us that it has a whine which is even worse than that of the dustbusters'. If in reality it was anything close to as you both are suggesting, we would have already noise, sound comparisions and what not. Dont you think?

I haven't suggested it. Countless review sites have! I am merely repeating. Stating the X1800XT has a high pitched whine. So, are they all wrong? Tell me what you think.
Give me examples of countless reviews. I think I have read about "whine" in one review and I'm pretty sure I read all reviews of X1800 XT and 512MB GTX.

Are your fingers broken?
Whats that supposed to mean.

you're making the claim, you back it up mate.

I don't think AT had any problems with a 'high pitched whine' tho ;)

Oh he didn't? Lemme just see if I can PM Kris Kubicki and see if he can ask the reviewers first hand. If they say it has a whine, will that suffice?

hehe i trust and like Kris so yeah that would suffice ;)

Ok kewl. LOL and the "Are your fingers broken?" is an offhand way of saying, "Why do I have to look things up? Why don't you use those fingers and do a search. :D

Well if I expect to make claims on things I dont own, then I should be the one to back it. I could go on and say GTX is noisy but its my responsibility to back it up.

Like I said, your "countless" = 1 or 2 not much really.

#1 You are comparing across reviews.

#2 You are arguing a moot point. Every single review out there will tell you that the 256mb 7800GTX consumes less power by a margin of about 45 Watt. Those reviewers will also tell you that the 512mb consumes more power than the XT by a margin of about 45 Watt. Stop trying to play with the facts.

#3 Sound isn't really an issue. Both cards are very close in terms of sound. If it matters so much to you then get a 3rd party HSF. It is stupid to argue over stock coolers. Ifyou must however, i have heard about a slightly whine to the ATI card, but i cannot attest to this personally.

Here you go Dingo, I feel like de-bunking your FUD:

Funny how you, Ackmed, and nts point at that B3d review and say "nothing to see here" when reveiwers are all saying "WTH? This is one noisey card!"?

What's up with that? None of you actually OWN or have heard a X1800XT, yet here you are trying to tell people there are no moise issue when several reviewers obviously disagree.

Under heavy load, it's just a bit more noisy than we'd like, but we're sticklers for quiet computer parts.

Hardocp ignored on purpose. (I did say barring one or two reviews) <- could be attributed to faulty test cards.

So where is this "whine" coming from? Imaginary? Most probably be. (As I dont see most of the reviews not mentioning it.

I've also read that the 7800GT has a whine to it and is as loud as X1800XL. But I since I dont own one and it doesnt make me happy, I dont go around spreading FUD for some pathetic reasons.

So much for your "debunking" FUD. :D You should read up before you post.

strange how the legitimate threads get locked and flamebait crap like this keeps going. :p

ATI isn't behind . . . they are 'even' with nVidia's 7800GTX with the x1800xt and and yet to answer the 'ultra' with the xtpe . . . with r580 due in January, i'd say it's nVidia's turn to be "behind".

naw . . . everytime he jumps into a legitimate thread with FUD - flames are the response and it gets locked . . .

notice the video mod seems to have a 9-5 [hit-or-miss] job here; M-Sat ;)

Wow all these threads are full of so much crap. Rollo stop throwing your tantrums in every thread that has the word 'ATI' in it. Both companies always have had good cards out and they both do now. The points we are arguing over are so minute.

Ok you prove to us that the R580 will be here in January. Last i checked Anand himself said that he wouldn't count on it on bit. I would say CEBIT isn't too far out of the question.

Hardly. Hard facts are hard to refute. You made your statement as fact. What FACTS do you have that brings the X1800XT even keel with a 512MB GTX? Let's see it. That's what I want you to back up (which is funny, by the way...those of you in the ATi camp are counting on rumors of a card...the mysterious and all powerful R580.....do the nVidia fellas a favor and hold your breath, k?).

19000 posts and you still don't get it. I swear you amaze me at least once a day.

Well check, more often :p

NOTHING can be PROVED to the blind [but i'll try a last time]:

the R580 GPU is still scheduled for launch in January. {AT's article}

BTW, what's there to back up? It's not going to happen. The R580's architecture isn't what you think it is, and it sure as hell won't be here in January (in launch OR quantity).

So, unless the information in the past that I've given is wrong, you have no reason not to take my word on this. But hey, you ATi guys like to dream, so more power. Don't listen. But I'll happily say "I told you so" AGAIN.

Edit: If you're not able to read your own posts, I'd say you have a personal problem.
