TBH as a warlock i loved shadow labs, i loved keeping something seduced/banished and fear juggleing 1-2 other mobs while DPSing something else

well untill that random rogue came out and 1 shotted your healer

Cata heroics were broken from the get go, they weren't tuned for guilds/friends, even those groups had issues. While do-able, they were total wipe-fest even in the best gear from normal dungeons. Healing was broken, so anything requiring a healer was broken.

people complain about Cata heroics seem to have forgotten how massive broken TBC 5 mans were in terms of difficulty
I liked TBC heroics, but then again I was playing an OP paladin tank at the time and only after the first round of tuning. The really nasty thing about them was all the mobs with sweeping strikes. D:

fresh 85 my first heroic was Stonecore.

Lets just say I lost a lot of sanity there, especially as a healer.

Ozruk could be a pain in the ass depending on what type of healer you are. Druid? Fine. Priest? Fine. Shaman? Fine. Paladin? Good. Fucking. Luck.

Of course, if someone purges the reflect buff too quickly? Good. Fucking. Luck.

Never made it that far. Couldnt beat first boss in there. First heroic at 85 and we had 4 guildies, 1 pug and it just wasn't dying fast enough.

^^

Really? because I hear the exact opposite from most of the WoW veterans I know.

But I really can't say because I started playing in 2010 just before CATA.

As for my toons.

I have 2 85s. a Priest and a Mage on Ysera (US)...

A month or so ago, I healed H-Stonecore on my Druid for my friend and his wife. We wiped a few times on that boss. :|

Albeit, we may have survived better if I were a slightly better healer, but I can't help that much. If I were on my Rogue, it would have been a different story though! :D

second half of BC and first half of WotLK was perfection, imo.

BT, SWP, and Ulduar == <3

but ToC (and its 6 versions) was probably the worst instance ever released of any MMORPG.

Started up the game again, just started a human hunter on a brand new server. Managed to get all the boa except the ring. I'm avoiding doing dungeons, been doing exclusively quests. I'm finding that quests are equally fast or even faster for leveling. Not sure if I'll get the time to hit 85 for panda, I'm sure if I sat down for a few days I could get to it at this rate

toc was a joke.

calling it "content" was a joke... the raid itself was torturously boring.

having 6 5-mans/raids all in the same room? omfg, I was ridiculously bored... it was pure willpower that kept me hanging on to see the end of ICC, but after that I was hardcore burnt out (for which I hold ToC mostly responsible)

My favorite raid was Ulduar, it was a little long, but everything else was amazing.

Going from Ulduar to ToC was... terrible.

My burnout mostly came from how terrible my guild was. It took us a month to kill Hodir, and ToC and ICC didn't go that well either.

toc was a joke.

on normal it was, on hard it was moderately challenging, twins and anub had interesting/annoying mechanics. but overall it sucked, compared to Ulduar which is prob the best raid they ever made it just destroyed peoples desire to play the game

Ya most vets all agree BC was the best by far.

I actually enjoyed Vanilla the most. You just can't replace the epicness of having 40 people in a raid. Yes, 25 is more manageable, but 40s were great.

Plus, in vanilla, epic gear meant something. The raids were also.. different. There was less spamming and more down time. Heals were 3 seconds long and there weren't many O-shit buttons, so taking damage and standing in fire meant something.

These days, there is unavoidable damage and people spam aoe heals to beat it. I'm not saying Vanilla was harder, but that raiding experience was unique and different from raiding in later expansions.

25 was the perfect number, IMO

I remember 40-mans being composed of about 15 people working hard, and 25 people on afk/auto-attack.

I hate hate hate hate the fact that 10's and 25's reward the same loot now... ruined Cat imho and I'm not holding out much hope for MoP.

Vanilla? If you advocate vanilla you were clearly playing one of the anointed classes.

Vanilla was terribly imbalanced and incredibly simple. The hardest thing about it was getting ~20 people who knew how to play the game, ~10 who kinda knew, and another 10 who were afk 2/3rds the time to do a raid.

By today's standards the vanilla raid mechanics (with a couple exceptions) are near 5 man difficulty. The troll 5 mans have more complex mechanics than molten core.

I played mainly a shaman in vanilla. They were considered one of the weakest classes around.

Getting 40 competent people together was indeed a challenge, however, the raids were truly challenging and rewarding. I can ensure you that if you didn't understand the fight mechanics in my raid group, you would be kicked out.

Yes, there were not as many mechanics in boss fights, however, it was a different experience. Fights didn't need to have 20 things going on at once because the numbers were tweaked differently.

Vanilla was also the only point where different strats could be used on the same encounter, specifically the Molten Core and Blackwing lair. The later raids pretty much had a predetermined way to down the boss.

getting 40 people together was mainly about numbers rather than competency.

lol yeah. you didn't need 40 "good" players you just needed 20 good and 20 fillers.

I actually scheduled 2 days off of work for MoP :/

(Tuesday + Wednesday... Thursday/Friday/Saturday are my normal days off)

I hadn't even thought about it till I realized this weekend that we're quickly approaching the end of the year and I've got a ton of vacation time to burn thanks to personal life clusterfuckery... I'd been saving my days to go on vacation with my BF, but we broke up in June. vacation time doesn't carry over from year to year, so I've got to use 15 days in the next 3 months or I lose it.
