For technical purposes, this is the cata launch. So once the problems are fixed, which should be much before the 7th, won't have any problems. Same thing happened with pre-wrath and is lesson learned from BC launch when then did everything on launch day and servers mostly unplayable for about a week.

The new prime glyphs really the old major glyphs. They just upped the tiers somewhat to add a third tier for the .....forgot the word(s) they used, system they decided to scrap and go with expanding the glyphs.

I feel for those of you being “Balanced” at the moment. I wont bother to repeat the things that were said to me when I complained about the hunter “DPS Balancing” because for the most part the people in this forum were pretty darn supportive.

In the long run I ended up changing my Hunter Spec to Beast Master, learned to raid with that spec and closed the gap with the other ranged DPS in my guild. It was a big adjustment going from MM to BM but I actually enjoy it a great deal now. It’s a lot harder to raid as a BM but a lot more fun IMO.

So if you got hit with a nerf… errr balancing do like I did and stick it out. I’m sure you will find a way to make it work… if not then QQ a lot. It might not get Blizzard to change anything but at least you can vent.

Just an added note, Blizzard upped the damage of many of the hunters main shots, either because we were vocal and QQ better than the rest of you guys, or they realized they nerfed us too much initially. Either way I feel some slight vindication for my initial QQing.

Anyway Our guild managed to down Sindy on Sunday. Only the second time we had seen her so we were pretty happy with that. That’s a fight of pure mechanics, once you get those down the fight is pretty much a non issue. You just need to have everybody doing the right thing at the right time.

Then it was on the lich king. It took us about 6 attempts on Sindy to get her so we didn’t have a lot of raid time left for LK. We managed to get in 4 runs at him. At the end of the night I realized that we would take the LK down next time we saw him. He is also a very mechanical fight and now that we have seen it we should be able to get everyone focused on what they need to do. There is a LOT going on and it’s fun but not a push over. A fitting end to all the work.

It will be the first time our guild will be able to say we took down an end boss prior to an expansion. Looking forward to it and then on to concentrating on Cata.

For Cata I leveled my Druid (now being nerfed LOL) to 80 and I’ve been pugging to get T10 level gear. I’ve managed to get 4 of the 5 T10 for Balance and the 264 trinket and back all in a very short time. So my druid should be ready to go in Cata, maybe I’ll swap her over to Wargen just to say I have one.

Servers wont be up til 5pm. Nice since I wont get home until then.. but damn I flashed ROM on my phone without releasing the Authenticator.. I need to get blizzard to unlock my account..

Hmmm now I have some interesting race changes that I might make... mostly getting rid of all of my Night Elves and changing my Hunter to... probably a Dwarf, my Rogue to a Gnome and my Priest to a Human (maybe). I'd prefer a Human Hunter, but their racials don't do anything for Hunters... although, Dwarves only gain +crit to guns, so I'd be screwed if Blizzard went heavy crossbow/bow again.

Actually, I just took a peek at racials again and the new class combinations and it seems the best race for my Hunter would be Worgen since they get a base +1% crit rather than having to worry about equipping a specific ranged weapon (Dwarves only get +1% crit with guns).

Hmm this is an interesting change. I wonder if it will affect Rogue vs Kitty PVP dynamics since it will allow you to use the ability to attempt to hit a stealthed rogue while they're around you. Before you would've had to use a Balance AoE to do such a thing.

Hmm maybe this will make Deadly Poison good for something more than proc'ing Instant Poison 😛. It only did around 10% of your damage, which isn't paltry, but considering Instant Poison did around 30%+!

EDIT:

Since you're not really geared, I'd focus more on Stamina than a lot of other stats. Moonzi mentioned the hit cap and expertise cap, although they don't come into play as much until you start raiding. I wouldn't ignore them, but they're not as important for heroics. Given the recent nerf to Protadin mastery and the change to Holy Shield, it will not be possible to hit the old uncrushable number.

I ended up keeping my Parry and Dodge to around 21% and reforged to Mastery, but I did that before Mastery got nerfed, so I'd have to do some digging to find out if it's still as worthwhile.

I recommend Drani for Hunter with heroic presence it helps with hit cap while you are dealing with changing gear. Also Heroic presence is now not a party buff it only affects the player so having a Drani in your party wont give it to you.

I'm sure this comment has been made a thousand times before, but why are we still judging changes as variations of Buffs and Nerfs. To make an arguement for either requires intimate knowledge of what is intended in the first place. What you call a nerf can also be considered a downward adjustment towards what the developers consider appropriate based on its intended use/purpose. At the end of the day, we should all just worry about how the changes translate to actual gameplay when balanced against all the other changes being made at the same time, and not how it looks on paper. Most changes are often to made in conjuntion with other changes, so we gotta look at the big picture, and as we all know the "big picture" has changed quite a bit in cata.

...except for rogues...they must all die... 😀

If this comes over as “Grumpy” or “Angry” please understand it’s not. It’s just my opinion. ()🙂

That’s assuming that Blizzard properly calculates how the changes will affect game play. Also there is the issue that Blizzard is trying to balance two totally different game concepts, PvP and PvE. We are the consumers and if we are unhappy with a change that blizzard makes it’s because it affects our game play. With this in mind I think its right to complain and call a nerf a nerf.

Blizzard can come back and say, we made this change because of XYZ…. Not that they always justify changes and when they do they are usually pretty vague. Often what they do to balance PvP unbalances PvE and vice versa. This is a hole they dug themselves into and they have been trying to dig out for a long time.

Do we know what blizzards final vision is for WoW? No but then again it’s an evolving game and Blizzard may not have much of a clue past Cata themselves at this point. The one thing I saw in a blue post that made perfect sense to me was that the majority of the changes are made by Blizzard to make programming and maintenance of the game easier for them.

This can be good and bad for the consumer. On one hand it makes content releases easier and hopefully faster. But then again if you enjoy the way they game is set up now and they change the mechanics of it to something you don’t enjoy that’s an obvious down side.

A case in point is what they have done with the talent trees. They have NOT expanded the talent trees like they said they were going to, they have contracted them. On top of that they have locked us into one tree for the majority of the time you play a character. Why this half measure? Why not just lock a person into one tree at the start and keep them locked in? Well the obvious answer is that Blizzard didn’t; want to go through and add anything new to the trees.

Look I like WoW it’s still loads of fun to play and I will be playing it. Just don’t expect me not to voice my opinion and call a nerf a nerf when I see it.

EDIT :
Completely agree on Rogues though

No portals in Dalaran?

Time to make some gold.
:awe:

lol people were asking for 150g... then the next guy 148.99g... then a few mins later 50g... then some wanted to screw everyone out of a profit and did it for free.

Seriously, the most I'd pay is 5g.
