Well, this isn't exactly unprecedented. Same thing happened on the bloodelf isle just prior to wrath coming.

Really… I don’t recall it happening prior to WotLK release.. After sure… Then again by that time I was so burned out on those Isle quests I stopped going there

Rearrange the world, yes.
Fly? probably not. Blizz has said that wont be available unless you install Cataclysm.

I think a lot of people, including everyone in my guild, are getting Cata as a download. Will be interesting to see if those of us that have the Cata download will be able to fly in the old zones prior to December 7th. If the world is breaking prior to CATA release and they want us to go out there, some places will only be accessible by air correct?

the problem with preloading cata and being ready to roll right away on December 7th is...well, I cant remember a huge patch like this where things were actually up and running correctly on the first day. I'm debating putting in the PTO for this right now at work and I'm wondering if I should take off the 7th, or the 8th, or maybe both? Or maybe just take off the 9th and 10th and have a long weekend, giving them plenty of time to work out the kinks.

One shot H LK 10 last night after getting him to 12 last week on a couple attempts. Makes me wish my guild was still raiding to try him out on 25 and that we could of attempted him before 30% and patch. Was a fun fight.

Does anyone know if patch mirroring is possible now that they have the new content streaming system implemented?

I have 2 installations on my laptop and I used to just download 1 patch, then grab the patch from the "updates" folder to install on the other (so I don't have to re-download). I just checked and it seems that it now locks files in the data folder, and just rebuilds the files on the fly, rather than using a patch.

I also checked some of the mirroring sites, and they didn't have this latest patch listed (they didn't on Tuesday night anyhow).

Congratulations, I should be going after my first LK this coming Sunday.. not heroic mind you but still exciting all things considered.

they still suck on Ner'zhul

Just the opposite on Shadowsong. I don’t recall the last time I saw anything but alliance in control of WG here. Tenacity is all fine and dandy but at some point it can’t be fun to simply be overrun regardless of how much health you have.

Not going to be any better with the media and IMO it might be worse. With the preload they are tweaking things all along where as the Media release must already be burned to disk waiting to go to retailers. I’m guessing anyone going from disk will end up with as much if not more content to DL on release day.

For me I’m going to buy the disk later just to have it and avoid a bigger DL should something happen. Then again I should probably just save my game installation off to an external HDD and use that as a back up.

Yaaaaaay! Back to tanking for 2 weeks, and already got my last achievey done and earned the ICC 10 Drake last night! 😀😎😀😎

Only 1 left for 10s: "Bane of the Fallen King"

Loving my new Guild. 🙂

if you download the patch once and install it you could then just copy that instance of the wow folder and create a new one. wow doesn't install registry links and all the other crap so wherever you put that folder you can run it from there.

Crap, I was hoping that wasn't the only way. Even just copy/pasting a 20 gig folder on my crappy 5400rpm laptop drive will take a while. I might see if I can just copy over only the files that show modified since the patch.

It was so much easier just running a quick patch. Oh well, the play before it's fully downloaded feature is more important, so I can't really complain.

Well you could transfer the patch files instead, but then you'd still need to go through the patch process. If on a wired network not sure how much faster it would be to upgrade vice transfer.

Couple of the 4.03a vice release details posted, along the lines of what we surmissed. No flying, worg/goblin, expanded profession levels or char levels.

There is also an acheievement if you manage to get smoked by deathwing before he goes into hiding.
