I haven't had a chance to shoot much of anything lately with the camera, but I just received my OnePlus 3T which is a huge upgrade over the OnePlus One that I've been using for the past 2 years or so. From the many reviews I watched, its camera seemed to trade blows with all the other flagships. From my limited testing so far (only had it a day), my experience has been more or less as expected after researching it, which is to say, very very good especially for the price.

Even in poor light, I was surprised at how pleasing of results I was able to get. Pretty good sharpness and detail all things considered.

As it got darker, I wanted to try the manual controls for a longer exposure. Here's what the actual scene looked like:

I did a two second exposure just propping the phone up against the couch:

Overall, I'm fairly impressed and am now excited to keep fiddling with it.

Yeah, it was pretty breathtaking up there, and kind of a hairy hike for last 3/4 mile or so. It had iced over pretty good making it a more challenging climb.

The up-close scenery was awfully pretty, too.

That's some tight depth of field. I got a chance to play around with my buddy's Canon 85mm f/1.2 a few weeks ago and it was nuts.

I took my daughter on a fairly strenuous hike to a waterfall I discovered earlier this year ( I have previously posted photos of it here.)

Today, I found the light quite striking on the face of the falls, and zoomed to my maximum to create this image.

Nice pics. I've yet to take some cool moving water/waterfall pics like that, but I know there are some around me if I can just lug my tripod out to them. I should invest in a more portable one.

Cerpin - this is the second time I've looked at these recent photos of your wife (?) - They are seriously awesome; great composition and the lighting is very good. The first photo of her, it almost looks like you have a reflector on her.

Without going back into my editor to confirm, I'm pretty sure on that one I used the Camera RAW adjustment brush to increase the exposure on her face and torso and pop her out more from the background. Not unlike having a reflector on-hand. Thanks for the compliments! A lot of it has to do with the excellent 80-200mm 2.8 lens I picked up a while back, too. I'm loving that thing.

Trying to shoot the Golden Gate bridge with *just the right amount of atmosphere* is an exercise in frustration.
I've been there and it's just socked in.
I go there again and it's barely cloudy.
It's one of those shots I want to get, but so far I just haven't been there at that right time.

However, I did manage to capture someones "F!CK 2016 !!!!!" scream as they ran into the water moment.

Sandhill Cranes, Whitewater Draw, AZ

I didn't have my camera yesterday so just used the phone. The first is a cropped and rotated pic that came out with a weird painting-like texture. The EXIF claims the phone used ISO 25 but then has a separate "brightness" reported at 8.9. I don't know how that translates to normal ISO ratings.

Some digiscopers recommend getting a 4K capable camera and using video stills as the easiest, surest method of getting decent pics. They might be right.

Here's my first handful from a recent trip to Spain, in and around Barcelona. I am still in the trimming down and deleting phase of the hundreds of pictures I took and putting the finishing touches on a few along the way. As always c&c welcome ...

I bought the Fuji 16mm f/1.4 prime specifically for this trip to bring along with my 23mm and am really glad I did. Hard to get used to the wide angle at first due to strange perspective effects but it was great to bring along for some of the neat architecture. More of these to come but I've had enough of editing and pruning for a night!

These are in towns called Girona and Tarragona, Spain. They filmed a few episodes of game of thrones in Girona apparently due to the medieval small town feel.

One of the gf ... slightly front focused but I like it.
