Great shot of the morning mist at Kings Canyon, Mike! I can almost breathe it!

and zCypher, nice cropping with your first shot - sorta scary, that water body...

Thanks! It's actually not cropped though, it was shot with my 105mm standing right there in the journey behind the falls part, so that's why it looks so close up hehe

I think they're both great, but I prefer this one. The road gives some foreground interest and perspective.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I think I prefer it as well ... except... when I did the pano, I wish I would have gotten more of the curve in view.
And have the breaklights of a car streaming thru the road.
And greener grass on the hillside.
And no cloud in the sky.
And...
;)

I agree with EOM, the road in the foreground wins it for me. Though the milky way pops a bit more in the other photo. They're both nice work. :)

Great shots curious. If I'm ever in CA, I'm going to make you take me around to all the spots. :D

Those Lick Observatory shots are really great, Mike!

If anybody feels lazy about clicking on an image to enlarge it to full size for viewing, these images should cure that! Beautiful dreamy effect!

Thanks for compliments guys. I had been shooting the backside of the mountain, which is more sheltered and "darker." Pulling over for the shot with the observatory in it was a last minute decision - turned out to be a good decision.

Wow, you nailed those star shots... just awesome. I'm jealous! Nice work. I'm moving out west soon, so, hopefully I'll get a chance to go shoot some nice scenery in the rockies.
