Here's a handful from a recent Colorado trip ... trying some different things in a few, others are pretty normal. Sorry for the overload, but I couldn't choose, and haven't even looked at half of them yet. Definitely moving out west at the earliest opportunity.

All taken with my trusty 23mm lens (35 equiv) ... perfect for traveling. I was wanting wider on a couple though so just took a bunch of verticals handheld and let Lightroom stitch them. They turned out okay, may be able to do better in photoshop.

I was totally unprepared for this shot so it isn't a great shot but I'm just glad I got it at all. California Condor, Big Sur, CA. He flew by at eye level, about 15 feet from me.

There are about 270 birds in the wild out of a total population of about 450.

A second one from last night. This was with the on-board flash so I had to boost the brightness by a lot in post.

For us in the Northern Hemisphere, it's nearing the end of the "Milky Way season." From our perspective, the MW is falling over on itself and the galactic core will be invisible for another 5 months.

So, with no moon last night, I traveled to my dark spot. Previously, I had been driving as close to the "middle" of the dark spot as possible - for this trip, I actually went as far "North" on the dark spot as possible, giving me a long runway of dark to the South -- the MW raises in the South and swing S-SW.
I believe this proved to be a good tactic, as it was arguably darker at this location than anytime I've tried this.

This image was just as the sun went down - this was taken at 7:30 pm

The first image of the MW was taken at 8:09 PM which seems incredibly early -- but the MW was already visible to the naked eye and it was already dark.

I moved to an alternate location, didn't re-verify my focus ( it got bumped and this is soft), and took this at 9:34PM before heading home.

That last shot is sweet, Squirrel! The trees frame it on the bottom and it blends all the way up into the stars.....
