They've been redoing the highway through town one section at a time for past few years and this year they are at the section that has an overpass that was used for the train way back in the day so it's kind of always been a landmark. Sadly, it has to come down. Took a couple pics around the area:
Found this picture from what I believe to be the early 90's showing the train on it, and took the pic recently from roughly the same spot to show them starting on the demolition. The building in the background is also rather historical, it's about 100 years old, and recently had a fire. I'm not sure what the fate of it is yet.
That Bon Air sign is practically a landmark in itself.
This feels like a scene from Jurasic Park. The majestic north American excavator grazing near the areal fibre cable.
A relic from the past. Pretty sure this would have been for telegraph lines or train signaling. They run along where the tracks were, now days it's the fibre feed for the city that runs along the poles.
