Work got slow and my work status is now semi-retired On Call status so I've finally found some time to do some catch up work on my photo archives. This is an aerial view of the Stairway to Heaven Island of O'ahu on the Windward side, part of the Ko'olau Mountain Range. Kaneohe town below and Marine Corps Base Hawaii floating in the ocean to your right.

Couple more: This is the Diamond Head Lookout with the 'copter hovering about a hundred yards away.
And this is the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor Entrance with Magic Island to yer left. In the foreground is your very popular Bowls surf spot, one of my personal favorites.
Had to do some fancy foot work in PS toward getting rid of the distortion that 16-35 lens created with all of the vertical lines those buildings created in the background.

They've been redoing the highway through town one section at a time for past few years and this year they are at the section that has an overpass that was used for the train way back in the day so it's kind of always been a landmark. Sadly, it has to come down. Took a couple pics around the area:
Found this picture from what I believe to be the early 90's showing the train on it, and took the pic recently from roughly the same spot to show them starting on the demolition. The building in the background is also rather historical, it's about 100 years old, and recently had a fire. I'm not sure what the fate of it is yet.
That Bon Air sign is practically a landmark in itself.
This feels like a scene from Jurasic Park. The majestic north American excavator grazing near the areal fibre cable.
A relic from the past. Pretty sure this would have been for telegraph lines or train signaling. They run along where the tracks were, now days it's the fibre feed for the city that runs along the poles.
Closer look at bridge itself.

Ocotillo near Tucson, AZ. Ocotillo flowers are almost always red. This plant is the only known one in Arizona to produce flowers like this. The red flowers in the background are on a different plant. I've been visiting this plant since 2009. Drought about killed it a couple years ago but it has since recovered. There is a small population with similar flowers in the Yuha Desert, along the California - Mexico border. Ocotillos can live for ~200 years.

Nice shots. I'm mildly surprised the two varieties haven't produced crosspollinated variegated offspring. I've always wanted to propagate a desert micro-biome in a corner of our backyard due to my home being on the drier leeward side of the island and that ocotillo would fit in nicely.

Nice shot! I really like how the vertical lines accentuate those two beady eyes that draws me into the image. It's like after staring back at those eyes for a few seconds I swear I saw them blink at me. lol

A cormorant was hanging out at a local pond today. First time I've seen this guy here. Usually there is just a heron and ducks about.
