Wow when did AT get a unmoderated anything goes smackdown forum?
Oh, I see, not content to actually discuss the issue, you want to just sit back in your high chair and pout while adopting a holier than thou attitude.
That's cool, but good thing everyone else sees through it.
Discuss what? You said I'm a bitch cus you assumed I didn't drive manual. I'm not the one going around calling people pussies and bitches for driving auto. I forget though cus you're so kewl cus you drive manual. Are you 15yrs old?

Either your transmission is broken or you're broken.I fucking hate automatic transmissions. Even in heavy traffic they're an absolute mess, and don't even get me started about trying to get off an exit ramp into a merging lane.
Anyone who likes automatics over manuals has never driven a manual or is a little cock sucking bitch.
yeah and if you're overtaking someone and are near the redline and need to shift...Well guess what? You control when you shift with a MT, so it doesn't shift at the wrong time. Imagine fucking that. So an AT is FUCKING AWFUL. Thanks for bringing that up. I forgot to mention you cannot EVER approach 100% in a corner because you never know when your AT is going to shift.
About the Meriva I've driven that needet 1 to 2 seconds to shift and the Skoda Oktavia with DSG, wich also needed that time, but for at least 2 gears. What the fuck are you talking about?
Not quite but a gear more.Kickdown = drop a gear.
Actually that's the normal case, over here. Some people really make me laugh when they think they're so cool cus they drive manual tranny and call people who drive auto pussies.
So you're saying that you can downshift your manual faster than an automatic kicks down?
Or are you somehow trying to make the patently absurd claim that the split-second it takes for an automatic to kick down is sufficiently long to make the difference between you causing an accident by cutting someone off because you couldn't anticipate a merge point?
Even if you're trying to compare the difference in time between an automatic kicking down and accelerating and accelerating when you're already in the lower gear because you've been holding that gear, the difference is so incredibly small that it cannot ever be sufficient for it to cause the issued you are claiming.
In short, it is the bad carpenter who blames his tools.

I didn't get past the first sentence, because you put words into my mouth in an obvious manner that changed what I was saying.
I'm saying if I give it gas in an automatic, in can shift before accelerating. Apparently that's not true. But you all know it is, you just want to change the subject and pretend I said something else. Trolls.

I've been only driving a manual since I've been driving. Only 3 years ago, I purchased automatic cars. In my humble opinion, a manual is wasted on a non-sports-car daily driver. The VAST majority of people will NEVER track their cars and the benefits of a manual can't be realized on public roads, ever.
Now, if you get pleasure from rowing the gears 2-10% of your daily, public-road commute, then power to you. If you're like me, who has exclusively driven manual his entire life and see it as more of a hindrance for a daily driver, you go automatic.
If I ever decide to get a weekend car, I would definitely get a light, sporty manual, something like an S2000 or a Miata. But only for the weekends. My daily driver will remain as my plush, comfy, sporty, BMW 3.
Which is exactly what I said in my first post. The only logical conclusion that can be made here is that you have difficulties with reading comprehension.

I've driven lots of different autos, 3 speed, 4 speed, 5 speed, manumatic, FWD,RWD,AWD, etc., and a few manuals, and I really cannot figure out what you mean regarding an auto trans in your previous few comments.
This really depends on what you consider the "benefits of a manual" to be. To me the greatest benefit is the pleasure of driving one, in terms of the control it provides and the satisfaction of completing a perfect shift. I would argue that if anything a manual is more advantageous on public roads than on a track, where a modern automatic and particularly a DCG or SMG will pretty much always be faster than a traditional manual. (And for what it's worth I am one 3 series owner who does take his car to the track from time to time.)
No, it isn't. You're lying.
Then you are purposely trying not to.
Ok, with a manual, you give it gas and it accelerates. Magic.
With an automatic, you give it gas and it decides to either
A: accelerate in gear
B: downshift, and then accelerate in that gear
But no, that never happens. I made it up. I'm a bullshit artist. Automatic transmissions make your car grow wings and read your mind and fly your car wherever you want without you even putting in any input. Every downside that they have they secretly don't have, because fairydust.

Yes they do! You lie!Neither of these options is "decelerate" which is what you claimed happened to you, almost causing two accidents???
Which is defined in my second paragraph, where I stated if one enjoys manually rowing gears throughout the 2-10% of your daily commute, then that enjoyment is a benefit.
Curious, why would a manual be more advantageous on public roads?
