There's also gel pads, if you're taping your bars. In general though, check out if your handlebar is at the right distance, and has the correct width for a good fit.
Then start looking at gloves, tapes and pads.
Also, don't lean on the handle, keep your weight mostly on your legs. Core excercise to get the back muscles to support your posture.
Focus on avoiding the death grip on your handles.
Your arms should be relaxed at almost all times (excluding braking maneuvers).

6 today. Thought about doing the 16, but didn't have time. I got these new pedals for my bike. They're not the fancy clipless ones, just some BMX type big pedals that has great grip. They're a bit heavy though, but no matter, I feel much more comfortable now that my feet doesn't slip when I smash the pedal.

Dear God:

I didn't wear my helmet riding home today. I wish a F150 would've just ran me over and end it all during my 6 mile ride.

+6 as usual. I should get my friend a helmet for rollerblading on the streets in case she gets run over by a car.

And the wrist protectors. IIRC, the #1 roller blading injury.
My helmet has saved my few brain cells on 2 occasions, at least. I need them.

+6. I'm taking my sweet time riding the bike today. It's like I'm going in slow motion. Didn't even break a sweat.

Good job to everyone who's riding in the hot weather  It's moderate here right now, about 80F today. I went out for an after-work ride. My legs weren't so great, but that's what happens when you take a month off! I had the utility mountain-bike commuter and it was packing some weight, so my 17.5mph average was actually not bad. Oh, and I had a flat tire.

Anyway, 2 miles to work today (had to go pay rent) and 23 miles after work, so +25.

+8 miles today. I love how going to work route is easy and down hill, but my going to home route is long and up hill. Basically, I get tired already at the end of the day and I have to get my ass kicked afterward. No wonder I'm so damn slim.

Hit the road at dawn and did 69 miles. Even with the early departure, it was still over 90 deg. by the time I got home. The last 10 miles were a death march.

What a great day today. I went beyond my usual turn around point. Did 30 miles today. I had a 2 course Mexican lunch afterward. Carnitas enchilada and carnitas torta plus horchata. It was nice.

It being Thursday, by tonight it should be another 36 for this week.
Tomorrow is off, having the rear wheel and carbon forked looked at by somebody who is hopefully more professional at looking at bikes than I am. as well as swapped the derailleur hanger.
Weather for the weekend looks good, so hopefully another climb coming up.

I did 12 miles today. Because I right alone the beach bike path a lot, my bike chain picks up uncommon amounts of sand. I don't know if anybody has a more effective way of cleaning the gear and chain than what I'm currently doing. I squirt WD40 on it, then spin the crank, which rotates the rear wheel as well as the chain. While the chains and rear wheel are spinning, I put a tooth brush on the gear, lubbing the chain while cleaning the sand out. There are still lots of sand stuck to the chain though. Besides, compressed air, what else do you guys suggest I do to maintain my bike?
